Guessing thats because all the RV's are made in Indiana. I drive by a dealer that carries Grand Design and Jayco and a couple other brands. The lot is packed to the gills. But if you go online and look at new inventory they have very little. They have a few of some models but not the normal stock amount. Same with the other dealers in my area. If you pick a brand and model and scroll down the online list most only have a few in stock with the rest on order. Even the big CW dealer 70 miles south is low on lot stock. The RV Industry is going to ride the golden goose as long as they can and the propaganda arm the RVIA with the rag they promote, RV business, in conjunction with the GoRVing campaign, are going to sugar coat it as long as possible. The sheet is hitting the fan and the crash is coming folks. I was through Goshen and Elkhart two weeks ago. The storage lots and fields out there are packed more than I've ever seen. RV shortage my rear end. What they're going to have is a buyer shortage and that will be a good thing. We bought a brand new TT in Elkhart last year. I called ahead and they had the model we wanted sitting on their lot. We drove there, inspected it, and said "We'll take it". The dealer said, "sorry but this one is sold and going to California in 2 days." I pulled out cash, full price, and he still would not take it. A couple days later the dealer called and said they received another TT, same model, and would deliver it to me if I wanted it. The nice thing was that the new TT had some upgrades over the first one we looked at. edit: My point is that plenty of RV transport companies are hiring in my area. But I do agree, that propaganda arm is strong!Re: The RV Demand ContinuesWe bought a brand new TT one year ago (in January) in Goshen IN. I live about an hour away. Once we found what we wanted, I called dealer to confirm he had the model available. Then, we drove there and checked it out (me, wife, and kids). Dealer wouldn't budge a dollar on price. I offered full amount and we will take it home today, and he informed us that the TT we were standing in was already sold and it would be 2 MONTHS before he could get another. I told him "no thanks, maybe we'll find another one on the drive home" He called the next day and said he could pick up a new one from the factory in 2 DAYS, AND deliver it! We have been happy with it.Re: Can you install a SW6D water heater instead if SW6D-E?Agree with the above posts. Don't use electric. I did the opposite replacement. I installed a SW6D-E where I only had a SW6D. Fit perfect, I just had to run an electric wire to it.Re: Getting my trailer settled for the winterI did the same thing with pavers this year. Glad I read this though, because I think I'll go chock my wheels better and raise my stabilizers for the winter. Thanks!Re: Dicor self leveling lap sealant caused roof to rippleI also had this happen on our last MH. Sealed up good, and smoothed out over time.Re: Still very tempting to buy my totaled TT backVery cool, I would have bought it back too. Good Luck!Re: Quality Decline since CovidWe just got a 2021 Gulf Stream 197BH about 2 weeks ago. Quality seems pretty good overall. I found a spot on the tub where I need to add caulk, and I had to vacuum some saw dust and metal shavings (not really a Quality issue IMO). Overall we are happy so far, but I suspect we will find a few more minor quality issues. I don't mind fixing them because I try to fix them better than new. Plus I have 2 small kids that will likely break a few things along the way...Re: Generator IssueThis is related to the fuel issue: I went to W***mart last night and got a new fire extinguisher. Got home, and the pin was pull and gauge said Empty. I knew I should have opened the box first. That was my 2nd time in that store in a year...that's why LOL (last visit was just an eye doctor appointment)Re: Generator IssueUpdate: I went out to work on motorhome with a step by step plan to troubleshoot the generator. Then my curiosity peaked and I tried to start the generator. It started and ran fine. So I started the chassis engine again....no fuel coming out anywhere :) I'm assuming it was the needle / float, so I still have intentions of installing the fuel shut off and cleaning the carb. I bought a fuel shut off but it is cheap and plastic, so I made a nice metal one with a ball valve and barbed fittings. Thanks again for the help guys. For now I'm going to continue on with my pre-trip projects, then head South in a couple weeks!!
