Not all all mirror failures are due to leaks. Look at where the mirror is mounted. Out in the open getting blasted by the wind and every passing truck makes it worse. They get beat up out there. The manufacturers don't know how to install them, they should have a metal plate behind or in the wall for the mirror to attach to. My RV is 2 years old and my mirror decide to come loose. There was no backing behind it, wood or metal. The screws just pulled out of the wood. My only fix was doing the same thing they did, I dropped the mirror about and inch and ran new stainless steel screws right into the sidewall. Hopefully it will last longer than 2 years, what I think added to the failure was the cheap screws they used, make sure you use stainless steel.Re: Things I noticed on my trip out west.We did the same Yellowstone-Grand Teton trip this year. When you went across Iowa you missed these 2 stops. https://www.thefreedomrock.com/ https://iowa80truckstop.com/Re: Onan Gen Shuts OffI'm going to say it's the fuel pump. Unit heats up, the pump gets hot and stops pumping fuel. Fairly easy to replace.Re: balanced shower westend wrote: schwartzworld wrote: road2002runner wrote: Anyone know of a replacement shower control that you can balance to your tastes. bbt Here you go. That is not a typical RV offset. If the OP could get along with reduced temperature from the "hot" side in all the fixtures, opening the usual winterization bypass valve a small bit would act like a mixing valve. It's pretty bad that these high-fixed temp RV water heaters are not required to have an anti-scald valve installed (at least in the shower). Look on YouTube. There are installations documented there. The offset is not an issue if you are creative. It's an easy install.Re: balanced shower road2002runner wrote: Anyone know of a replacement shower control that you can balance to your tastes. bbt Here you go. Better than cheap plastic or brass Quick release Hose end Critter plugRe: Planning Cross country tripPersonally, I'd skip California. That state is an entire 3 week vacation itself. We go from Ohio to Texas, Arizona, Colorado and everything in between in about 3 weeks. Try to stay off the interstates, stick to the state highways. You'll have no problems with fuel and rest areas plus you'll see so much more of the country this way. Small and mid sized American towns are worth the detour. Depending on your route I'd say you should find the four corners, drive across Colorado on route 160, see the Iowa Freedom Rock, while your in Iowa stop at the I-80 truck stop in Walcott IA, supposed to be the largest truck stop in the US. Plus there are many road side attractions to see along the way. Have a safe and fun tripRe: City Water Intake and Quick Connects- dust cap? Here's what you need, I have this setup on my city supply and fresh water tank. On the dust cap, run a small chain from it to the body or chassis, you won't lose it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB5UGTY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB5SEFM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB5T4L0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Re: Additional handrailYou might also want to look at Kee Klamps. It's a series of flexible and rigid aluminium pipe connectors that could be used to make a hand rail of any size or shape. I've been thinking about making one myself. http://www.simplifiedbuilding.com/store/components/kee-lite.html
