She seemed OK for several weeks and then started throwing up her whole meal (undigested) about three to four hours after eating. It was several more weeks after green beans were stopped that she got back to normal. We even took her to the vet. She actually gained weight. We now give her 3 "snacks" a day-- 1/3 cup of her Urinary SO and 1/4 cup of wet food each feeding. Her urinary ph is now 7.7 (the best it has been since her stone removal). Her concentration is normal and she now drinks more water. Her next appt. will be in June so we'll see about the weight and ph/concentration. Maybe we'll just have to put her on a water diet.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Anna has done this with her left front leg, then it went away after a day or 2. Then it came back a few months later and lasted several days so we took her to her vet. The x-rays showed nothing and he did an extensive evaluation. He twisted and manuvered each joint from each toe up to & including her shoulder. He had us try Tramadol even though she did not yelp or wince. This is the same identical pill I take for arthritis & fibromyalgia. We gave her a few doses and we limited her activity. It did not seem to make a difference she still limped. We had scheduled for a more extensive exam under anesthesia but she stopped limping before the procedure. The last episode has been nearly a year ago and she has had no problem since. If I remenber right Anna & Richard's Susie will be 6 in June. If the Rimadyl does no good try to get off it ASAP due to side effects.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Well we're getting our first real snow. So far it's up to Sarah's elbows about 3-4". Supposed to get up to 48 on Sun. so it will be gone again. Dogs really like to go out & play but with a high today of 24 they didn't get to stay out long. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Just had to share that this morning when I let Anna out she was the happiest dog in the world. We got our first measurable snow (less than an inch) and she wanted to play, play, play. There was a low wind chill factor (about 16) so I put Sarah's coat on her and she went out and promptly took it off so she could play better. I just don't know how animals are so tolerant of the cold and love to play in snow. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard--just knowing how much Sue enjoys eating out--how about a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant that you both enjoy and/or one for a bookstore? Se also likes to shop. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Gary--Congratulations on your retirement. Now it's finally time to relax and enjoy being free to come & go as you please. Enjoy. I'm sure your pack is glad also. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard-- Have you ever noticed that after a camping trip one or another of the dogs has increased arthritis symptoms. They get alot more exercise i.e. running and swimming than their normal daily walks. As a human with that problem I know what extra activity can do the next day or few. I'll bet after a few days of rest Peaches will be feeling better. Just a thought.-----LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}FlightMech -- I had a very old cocker spaniel in the past. Yes be sure to have your vet check for a UTI. Also there are medications for urinary incontinence for dogs at your Vet that might be able to help. I used "Proin" -- it was chewable tab and my dog had no teeth so I imagine I crushed or melted it. Good luck and hope to see you and Babe on down the road. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Gary--Congratulations! We want to see pictures. LoriRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Hi All, Dan's doing quite well after his hip surgery. His IV went bad so that's out and he's on all oral meds & a regular diet. He is up walking with his walker but still needs two people to help him in & out of bed. The Physical Therapist is doing a wonderful job. Old Fella should be proud of one of his first rescues as Anna is here at home keeping Sarah & all the cats in line and protecting our home and looking forward to Dan's return. No accidents in the house and yesterday I was gone over 12 hrs. during the surgery and time after. Lori
