I enthusiastically volunteered to demonstrate how to create a campfire, starting with tinder, then kindling (showing how to safely tap out thin pieces of wood with a hatchet, etc), then onto the larger split 2x4, etc. Lighter fluid is a big help too. Captivating stuff to a kid -- and apparently to adult pack leaders, too. A week later, I missed (ditched?) the next Troop committee meeting. I got a quick phone call that I was the newly elected Committee Chairman (the King over all). "Why me?!" I axed. "Because you weren't there to defend yourself. Congratulations." PS - Turned out to be a darn fun next three years, raising money thru pancake breakfasts to buy all new tents, camping gadgets, etc. Even though my son was out of scouting.Re: Beware of Keystone RV productsDear "One And Done": :R Sorry; Darsben is a hit& run peckerwood. My 2 cents: since Keystone "only talks to dealers", you may make another 75 mile trip back to that dealer, with the recommendation that he get on the phone right now with Keystone, because there's a lawsuit brewing over this, and he'll surely be personally involved, whether it's depositions or trial... so he should do whatever possible to get Keystone going on a good settlement idea for you.Re: Sleeping bags vs. sheets & blanketsWe simply sleep better under a comforter than being bound up in sleeping bags. If you're hot, swing out a leg or two; if it's cold, we cozy under. If we're compelled to wash the fitted sheet when we get home, no biggie. Washing two Sleeping bags? a $12 day waiting for a giant machines and driers in a laundromat - no thanks! Been there, done that.Re: Our first long haul tripThat creaking hitch... wondering if you have a friction anti-sway device. Ours, if I tighten it a little too tight, it likes to let out a groan with every turn I make.Re: stick on levels+ 1 on using a level.... however, I'd take my inside level reading on the counter top around ,the sink and near the Fridge. Take it lengthwise and when it's good, go out and stick on your lengthwise level. Then repeat for side to side level. Water drainage back out of the sink is my main concern, as well as doors staying closed (not swinging open on their own). When you stick on your levels, stick them on each side of one front corner, so you can see them both standing at one location.Re: Hybrid + Fishing Bridge Campground YellowstoneIf they turn you away at the main gate in West Yellowstone, you've saved a lot of money, and there are many more wonderful places to camp minutes from there; Coffee Pot CG in Island Park, Red Cliff a few miles north of W. Yellowstone, Hebgen and Henry's lake, and Wade Lake, for some real fishing. I've lived near Yellowstone for 22 years now, and have never camped in there due to the crowds.... of bureaucratic automaton rangers. Make Yellowstone a day trip from your "better" campground elsewhere.Re: How many pounds are the tent ends rated for?>STORY ALERT< My bride and I just pulled into our driveway with our new StarCraft AR-One. Opened the back-end tenty thing and we both climbed in to see how we would fit, when the trailer tongue lifted off, and the rear bumper knelt down till it sat on the driveway, with us stuck in the tent of a 45 degree trailer as it rose up and saluted our watching neighbors. We gingerly made our way out, until the tongue started back toward earth with a bang. Neighbors really wondered what was going on back there! Great way to learn to remember to crank down the rear stabilizers!Re: Flushing water tank.Mike& Sally: right now, Google "RV water fill" and study the images: One of these fixtures is surely what you'll be looking for on the outside of your RV. Where?... locate your fresh water tank (probably under a dinette sink??) Go out side the RV where you found the tank. Set into the side about waist high, (about where your drain is) you'll find the fixture to fill your tank (with a your garden hose). Fill it about half way, then add 1/4 cup of Bleach, then fill it all the way. Then get on with opening the faucets one at a time until you smell bleach. Let all this concoction sit for some hours, then run faucets, drain refill, at least once, or until you're comfortable with the taste. Chlorine bleach goes away after a day or two.Re: What is a "Small TT"?My 16' feels huge when I'm trying go tow it over an icy summit.
