What model/makes are full composite campers?Re: Looking into a Truck CamperWith the new info about azdel, everything is on the table. I just want something that won't rot or delam (who does). I will look at the the two lance models. I am unsure how the DW will feel about the pop out tent.Re: Looking into a Truck CamperMy thinking was if there is no delam, that means no water/leaking. I suppose there could be a small one that goes unnoticed until too late. I will add this to my list as well.Re: Looking into a Truck Camper Geo*Boy wrote: geo11RT wrote: JimK-NY wrote: geo11RT wrote: ..... I find that hard to believe. 60 years of TCs with many makers and models and not one? I will wait for others to chime in. I am not sure why that seems hard to believe. A truck camper must fit in the relatively small bed of a pickup truck. Trying to sleep or even fit 5 people in that space would require a beast of a truck camper with large slides. If you re-read what I want, you will see that this is very feasible, it is not an absolute. Just making a blanket statement like the other Jim said is um, silly (to be nice). As you can see, there are numerous other people that have posted ideas and models and have made it work. And provided insight to other materials that would prevent delam. It boils down to if you can think outside the box or take things literally Jim. Additionally, I know Northern did make a slide with their molded fiberglass shell. You are incorrect about Northern Lite making a molded camper with a slide. Bigfoot made a slide out TC but it wasn’t molded fiberglass. It was a framed camper with filon siding. Yup, that was already said twice now, including the post above yours. I never claimed to be an expert, that's what I am asking questions.Re: Looking into a Truck Camper towpro wrote: first you want a big and heavy camper. than you say your towing vehicle so there is a new requirement. what kind of truck you loading all this up into? Vehicle will be flat towed, so minimal tongue weight. 6000 lbs or so. I have not purchased a truck yet, I am figuring out the TC first. But it will be a diesel dually long bed for sure, like a F450 or perhaps F350/3500 depending on year/payload cap.Re: Looking into a Truck Camper jimh425 wrote: geo11RT wrote: If you re-read what I want, you will see that this is very feasible, it is not an absolute. Just making a blanket statement like the other Jim said is um, silly (to be nice). To be clear, you aren’t being nice. You are being rude. It’s ok though it happens all of the time on the internet. Eventually, you’ll see that both this Jim and the other Jim that you just responded to are right based on “your requirements” in your first post. If you want to change your requirements, that’s ok, too. But that doesn’t make us wrong retroactively. Well we can agree to disagree. What I wanted to say was not nice so I refrained. Yes you both were wrong. I asked for input and you two basically said tersely "Nope, look elsewhere, it cannot be done". I do not accept that. To me, that is rude if you want to get into semantics. I already said I would build a bunk if needed. And I know Northern builds one with a slide. The slide was optional, not required as I wrote. I am not wanting to get into an argument but when you put me in a corner, I will fight back. If you back away, maybe we can get along. Given the (mostly helpful) advice, what are some better makes out there? I have Northern and Bigfoot. I do like the the info regarding Azdel, I need to research this. Assuming this is acceptable, what manufactures use this?Re: Looking into a Truck CamperI have a nice travel trailer already, I don't want to take it because I am towing a vehicle, hence looking into a TC. I could get a 5er and triple tow, but rather not. I appreciate those who have contributed so far.Re: Looking into a Truck Camper JimK-NY wrote: geo11RT wrote: ..... The older ones like Lance would work maybe..Mine will sleep 6 actually..Two in the upper bunk/two on the dinette and two above the dinette if there small in weight..I guess a guy could beef that up pretty easy if need be.. Doesn't have the floor space of a slide but has a ton more storage than most slides..With a slide you lose the bed option above the dinette on most models and the storage above the bed if you don't use it for sleeping..It's all a trade off in what each person wants the most.. Floor space seems to be the most important around here and where the slide wins..Not important to me within reason as my time in the TC is out doing stuff and on the rainy days/TV and movies are there if you want.. What model is this?Re: Looking into a Truck Camper work2much wrote: geo11RT wrote: I will look at the 830. Keep the suggestions coming. The DW really likes the 1072/1172 but the wrong outside material. I believe Lance uses Azdel for their wall construction. They are supposed to be impervious to delamination. https://www.azdelonboard.com Ok, this is interesting. Is this saying that azdel sided Lance campers (or any other manufacturer) do not suffer from delam? If so, I would be open to this
