Slow down, take the time to stop and see things or do nothing at all! We became full-timers on 6/1/14 and we thought we should be doing or going somewhere everyday, boy have we learned different. I think it takes a while to settle in and figure out the flow of things. We love being full-timers, never know what or where we'll be!! Don't be afraid to stop and visit with others...everyone has an interesting story......good luck!!Re: Food & TravelingWe live in our 5th wheel full time, I do not leave my frig on while traveling. I could, but ours stays cold/frozen during the day while we travel. We shop weekly, or as space allows. Try to hit farmer's markets for fresh, but we usually just look for large food stores. Sometimes it's not great so we just buy as little as possible to get us though to the next area. I always keep canned meats and dry beans if needed.Re: Washer Dryer CombosWe had the Splendid combo installed in our 5th wheel before we left the lot! I love it, but it changes the way I do laundry. We went for the non-vented combo. I feel like it's a much better washer than dryer. I wash a load every other day to keep up. When I wash I hang up a lot on hooks that attach to the top of the doors so I don't "heat up" the RV. Shirts and pants. Then I hang up smaller items and towels and sheets on a fold up rack overnight in the living area when we go off to bed. It washes our Queen size sheets just fine. I do use the dryer if I need to, just remember to make it a smaller load! I would not have a home without W/D.Re: Questions to ask when interviewing for camphost positionWe camp hosted for the summers of 14 and 15 at the same camp ground. But that first summer was an eye opener! My questions are what does the job include? FHU??? Some don't have FHU, and I just wouldn't do it without. Job duties? Bathroom cleaning, site cleaning, money collecting, and oh the paperwork! How many hours daily, and days weekly?? Ours was a 40 week paid job! We were from the area, so we knew where everything was and that really helped!Re: New guy here!!Congrats, and welcome to the forum. Thor looks awesome....Re: Keystone QualityWe bought a used 2013 Montana Mountaineer 16 months ago. We are full-timers and we love it. We have pulled 7,000 plus miles over those months, without any problems. We do plan to put new tires on before our trip south for the winter...just because. I think you can have problems with any RV, with the way they're made.Re: RV LifeSame here. We travel about 250-300 miles per day, unless we are in a big hurry to get somewhere. We try to stay 3 days and relax and check out the area. I feel we are still young 58 and 61 and it tires us out when we travel faster. We have done 650 days and really don't like it! We're retired, it's not a race....Re: Portable Ice MakerFunny, we just made a trip to CW as ours died yesterday. We had the large Dometic for 3 years and it worked great, and we used it every day! We are iced tea drinkers and go through so much ice. We too put it in the freezer in Z-lock bags and let it harden....we bought the small Dometic today, so hope it's as good as the one had.Re: Help. Cant ReachI too am a tad short....so I use square plastic tubs for the very top shelves. I write on the front, glasses or spices or whatever I choose to put in them. I just take the whole tub down and get what I'm looking for. I still must use the step stool also!Re: 10k Unloaded Weight, King Bed, Rear Kitchen, 4 Seasons 5ver?We have lived in our 2103 Montana Mountaineer for over a year, right at 10,000 empty. Has the rear kitchen, has space for a king bed, but we have a queen to have extra walk around space. It's a 295RK, but measures 34'. We love it!
