I installed new struts and air bags this weekend. I'm going on a short trip this next weekend and I'll report back on my experience. Jayco Eagle HT 29.5bhds I didn't give Cat Scale weights, I didn't give the model of the FW, I didn't tell what kind of tires are on my truck because I didn't ask if those items were in check. "Get a new truck", "Get a smaller trailer" aren't an option or realistic advice. Thank you to those who actually answered my question. After reviewing many pages of "Your Rig" it seems that my truck doesn't squat any more than most of the pictures I saw, including the DRW trucks. I guess they need a bigger truck!;) As stated before, this is my first FW, this is all new to me and I'm not used to the rear squatting at all. Just looking for a little help, not an overall evaluation on what YOU would've done with MY money. Re: Do I need airbags?Heck I throw 300 lbs of firewood in the bed and still only have 30 lbs of air in bags to sit level. As long as you have E rated tires your good to go!Re: Do I need airbags?A short answer is yes air bags will take care of your problem plus give you a lot better ride. I got them on my F250 and love them. You won't be disappointed. I also have the Bilstein shocks and it rides great. It's a little bouncey when empty but not bad.Re: Bunkhouse researchWe have an 02 7.3 F250 also and it tows our 32' just fine. At a gross of 12500 I added air bags and it rides really smooth with no jerking. Could use more power on hills but hey its an old technology motor only making 250 HP.Re: rear stabilizer jack placement question Old Duck wrote: I have seen many late medel trailers mounted on an angle and have wondered if it was a good benefit to do so. I'm no engineer so done have a clue. I don't think I would put any on the rear bumper mainly concerned about ripping them off against something. Our 5er is a 33' rear kitchen with the rear stabilizers mounted about 18" or so from the rear of the unit. That's why I have to replace them, rubbed them on the ground on a late arrival at the campground. So I figured I would move them off them bumper and about 18" forward. I do think I will mount them at a 45. The mounting plate is big and round so I will have plenty of room.rear stabilizer jack placement questionNeed to replace my rear manual stabilizer jacks. My old ones were on the rear bumper. I want to move them closer to the rear axle on the frame but only by a foot or two and turn them at an angel. Would that help with the shake alittle by turning them alittle? Thanks.Re: awning repair questionI can't seem to find any anywhere.Re: awning repair questionWell its still frozen outside so I can't do anything yet. But I think I might try to straighten it first then go from there.Re: awning repair questionI know how to change them so it would be my labor.
