Looking for any suggestions that they may have like, "if I was gonna do it again I'd do this". It was pretty simple on the Jeep.Ready Brake for Colorado/CanyonHas anyone set up a Canyon/Colorado for a ready brake. I want tow my Canyon and I have the ready brake that I used on my Wrangler. Just curious about cable routing and drilling the firewall etc. Thanks, TerryRe: Replacing carpet with hardwoodWe installed engineered wood in our previous MH, 36' Cross Country. I followed some of Ernie's posts about starting point, start at the entry steps, gluing etc. The end result was very nice and we really liked the look of the wood, the color complimented our cabinetry etc. We used Bruce engineered flooring. I removed the dinette, we went back with a table and two chairs, unbolted the sofa and just moved it out of the way as needed, from the slide to the main floor. We unbolted the driver and passenger seats, took up the quarter round base board, removed the door casings and doors and pulled up all the old flooring, carpet vinyl etc. We also removed the toilet and replaced it while it was out. We also installed wood on the slide, not sure I'd do that again. We unscrewed a couple of small magazine racks and cupboards that were mounted to the floor, easier than cutting around them. The biggest problem we encountered was working space. With 2 of us in there it was hard to have enough working room. The gluing can get messy and the cutting requires about 9000 trips in and out of the door and down the steps. It's hard to really get in a rhythm due to the size of the floor. Lay about 3 pieces and go out and cut the next piece and on and on, a lot easier in a big room in the house. You also can't glue a very large area. We did every inch of the floor, bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom. We took our time, we would quit when it started getting tedious and start again the next day. We were in no hurry and did it in our spare time so it drug out for a little over a week. The one big mistake we made was to put travertine in the little toilet room. I made travertine baseboards and glued it all down. It looked great, but it was like walking on ice in the morning. We ended up putting a little throw rug on it so you didn't freeze your feet. All in all it was quite a bit of work, I swore I wouldn't do it again, but, that was then and this is now!! We are kind of kicking it around on our current MH. We'll see.Re: dirty film on windowsI recently used liquid Barkeepers Friend on a Mothers sponge ball on my drill and it took the hard water streaks off of my windows. The streaks looked to have been on there for a long time. They came right off and the glass looks like new. As I recall I wet the glass with a rag and then used the BF and wiped them with another wet rag and dried them. Not a streak left.Re: New TiresPM sentRe: LP Onan GeneratorI converted mine on a previous MH because it gummed up running on the liquid side. The repair was not cheap. It was an easy swap like Wolfe said and if I'm not mistaken it is recommended by Onan. Worked perfectly!!Re: 2006 Coachmen Cross CountryPM sentRe: Fuel stops around Ventura CAI fuel at the 76 station in Santa Paula, 126 at Hallock Dr. It's easy in from the 126, designated truck area to the right of the bldg. Pull through, large nozzle and pull right out the back and left around to the signal at 126. Pretty painless. There is also a Shell across the 126, but it isn't as user friendly. Sounds like it might be a good option for you since you're heading to the 5/118/14. The drive out the 126 to the 5 sure beats the fwy.Re: Fuel stops around Ventura CAGas Buddy will also show a Valero and a Chevron at the Seaward offramp. They on and off is fairly good, close to the on ramps. You can also check them out. The area can get a little congested.Re: Fuel stops around Ventura CAThere are a couple of stops in the Ventura area. There is a USA on Central Ave, very close to the 101. I've never used it but I see diesel trucks, not just pick ups, and MHs in there. About 1/4 mile from the fwy. It's close to Ventura Harley which you can see from the 101 fwy. On Del Norte there is Macvalley Oil, corner of Sturgis and Del Norte, regular truck stop, scales, snack bar and also an adjoining station. Del Norte is about 1 mile west of the Central Ave offramp, go south on Del Norte about 1 mile. There is also a truck stop CFN station, it takes regular cards too, on Ventura Blvd between Victoria and Johnson Dr, you can see it from the fwy going west/north. It's not real convenient to get to I would say that the Johnson offramp would be your best bet. Exit and go under fwy and back around behind Toys R Us. Kind of a PITA but big rigs make it. Victoria is pretty congested, but it will take you there also. On Vineyard Ave there is Pinto Petroleum (I think) about 3 miles north of the 101. It's a card lock and I'm not 100% sure about regular credit cards. It is easy in and out. Please try to verify these on line, I'm going from memory, I see the places almost daily, but I never pay much attention. I can't think of any in Thousand Oaks, Newberry Park or Agoura. I fuel up in Santa Paula off the 126, convenient for me but way out of your way. Terry
