All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: California Work Camping questionWe spent several years volunteering at various places. While researching these jobs we found that most of the State parks require the volunteer to clean bathrooms. Not for us I'm afraid. However we also spent several seasons at Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds and the janitorial work was contracted out. Also we spent a couple of seasons in National Parks. Great times. Research Volunteer.gov and select states you are interested in. Can't help you with the fingerprint issue sorry. Both of us have ours on file. And no, not criminal files lol.Re: Peso is back?Posted today at 16.97 to US dollar.Re: Rain in SonoraYes lots of rain here. In Kino Viejo yesterday they had the huge tankers sucking up water at intersection. We couldn't drive some streets but I believe the main streets are now ok. Huge hole in tMar de Cortez at the east end Oceanside. They were working on it yesterday but I haven't bee there today. Maybe more news later.Re: Medical Insurance for RVer while in MexicoTricare is for serving militRy, retired vets and their families. This program is not available for civilians. However we are fortunate to be coverd by Tricare for Life as retired vet. Any medical expenses incurred are paid for up front and reimbursed by Tricare. So far we have not had to use this so I can't report on it. But the information is available on line if I need to look it up,Re: VisasDon't know about actual visas but before I became an American citizen I crossed all the time with my UK passport. But that was before 2006 so maybe the rules have changed. I have advised my family to contact the Mexican Embassy in London and I will call the Consulate in Phoenix. Thank you all for the advice. I just don't want to spend hours at KM 21 if it can be avoided! MaggyVisasI have family visiting me from UK at Christmas. Picking them up in Phoenix and driving to Kino Bay. I want to try avoid the backup at KM 21 for visas due to the huge numbers of paisanos going south for the holidays. Does anyone know if they can get visas in advance on line? They are British citizens and I will have a visa already. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. MaggyRe: LED light bulbs and electricity savings questionWe we replaced our RV lights with LED some months ago. I can't speak to the electricity savings issue but I can tell you that LEDs are MUCH brighter than the old lights. Don't know how the poster thought they were not good enough for reading. We need to use fewer lights on in the evening and sure the light over my chair is much better for reading. MaggyRe: Who do you have insurance with?National Interstate for our fiver as they specialize in full timers and have coverage not always offered by others especially full timers. They also cover Mexico as long as we purchase liability with a speciality Mexico insurance company and some others dont. Two claims with satisfactory outcomes and no premium increase. We use Hartford for our truck as they offer an AARP discount. This is our third truck cover company since we went full time. Same coverage but much cheaper.Re: Traveling FT vs being anchoredHouse mess does not mean homeless! MaggyRe: Taking your dog into Mexico? We always travel with our dog and have always carried health certificates although have seldom been asked for them. As for the new law we will be sure to leash him in the back seat next time we cross. As an afterthought US Customs won't let you bring back more dog food than enough for one day. Maggy
