Used a laquar thinner to clean it and spray painted it. Turned out great and after 3 years it still looked good. x2Re: Were older travel trailers built better? ksbowman wrote: I have an old Coachman 1987 5th wheel (18') that I use for hunting that is still going strong. The last 5th we had before our newer GD was a Keystone 2004 and it was getting tried with quite a few problems popping up. I think some at least were made better. Like you I have a 1989 Coachman 5th wheel that I have basically rebuilt just to update to my liking but the meat and potatoes of it were and are still structurally fine. Mine was a leaker but I remedied that and repaired anything suspect from water infiltration. I would put my little 5ver up against almost any new unit.Re: How to replace tv antenna cableI did it to my dinosaur 1990 Coachman that was my rebuild/learners project and it was routed thru the ceiling joists. Not knowing what I was doing at the time I yanked it like a tug o war contestant and I got it out but... you guessed it,it never went back the same way. I ended up running it behind the jack knife sofa and through the kitchen cabinets. PIA but came out great.Re: valance removalJust my 2 cents but I went thru 2 sets of blinds in my trailer within 1 year before it ever moved an inch. They were decent blinds (I think) from Lowes and looked great but after a couple of months the cord would bind up and not go up or down evenly if at all. I can't imagine what bouncing up and down the road would do? All total I blew about $200 bucks before I just put shades up. Maybe/hope your experience will be better than mine.Re: Camp Chef BBQ BoxI also have the 2 burner explorer stove and the BBQ box that covers both burners. It tends to cook really hot so you have to use the flame tamer discs on them and even then watch it. You won't get any flame to your food, to me it's more of an oven. The grill itself is built like a tank with nice cast iron grates. It's alright but I wouldn't buy it again.Re: Eternabond primer etc questionI would definitely use the prime. Did the side seams on my 5th. wheel and portions of my roof and the eternabond started pulling away within a year. Yes it was properly prepped prior to being applied. I re-did it but this time used the primer and it is still 100% good 2 years later. Pay a little more and only do it once cause it's a PITA to remove it even if it's pulling up on it's own. Just my 2 cents.Re: 11 or 12 year old camperI picked up an'89 Coachmen 235RK fifth wheel for $1500.00. Was in good shape. I bought it as a learning project and have updated it from roof to axles...not because it necessarily needed it but wanted to personalize and update it. I would put this rig up against any new camper, within reason , for looks ,amenities , and functionality out there and will keep it until either me or it dies!Re: Home Depot Allure vinyl floor jplante4 wrote: wiredgeorge wrote: Looks great. I know to let a space for expansion and thought to use 1/4" round above it to hide the gap. Did you consider this or is the gap just not noticeable enough to be an issue? Thanks wg 1/4 round will work fine. I used the pre-finished plastic stuff with a little profile. Just don't nail the 1/4 round through the vinyl. Either nail it to the sidewall or double-stick tape it to the flooring. Like Frank said above, be fanatical about letting it float. x3 going on 3 years in Rhode Island and still looks good as new !Re: Remove TV During Cold Storage?Going on 6 years in New England where temps. frequently dip below zero during winter and my 26" LED is still running fine.
