If you experienced low batteries and had to charge them or if you changed your batteries you may have the code 46. Before you take it In try the following to attempt to clear the code. Hold the start/stop button for 30 seconds and then run the genset for 15 minutes and then see if code has cleared. This worked for me.Re: Onan HDKAJ 7.5 trying to start unattendedProblem solved!! I had a code 46 which indicates low battery,no power, corroded cables or other. In my case---I had installed new house batteries and did not realize that when the old batteries went bad that the generator control set a code 46--now I know!! I went online and found someone who advised how to reset and remove the code. Here is the how to reset and remove the code if you have corrected the problem. Hold the stop button at the generator down for 30 seconds and then run the generator for 15 minutes then shut it down and check for any codes---no more codes!!! Thanks everyone for your input. Hope this helps someone else.Re: Onan HDKAJ 7.5 trying to start unattendedThanks Doug, I will follow your advise and post back on results. Bill WRe: Onan HDKAJ 7.5 trying to start unattendedYes, it has a automatic module but it has always been set to manual operation. I have approximately 400 hrs of run time with no problems. O.K. so the fuel pump is priming it but does not try to start--just continues to prime until I click the switch at the genset and next day it starts all over.Onan HDKAJ 7.5 trying to start unattendedI have a 2007 Jayco Seneca with the Onan 7.5 generator. The generator has always worked just fine but recently I discovered it is continually trying to start when just sitting parked. Yes I exercise the genset on a regular basis for the required time. I have tried to stop this by switching the house batteries off and back on--that did not work. This happens frequently and sounds like fuel pump is priming. Is it possible the main controller is defective? Thanks for any advice.
