I'll suggest that to friend Bob and seriously think about it for my rig - those GC2's are getting way too heavy for an old dude.. Thanks!12 Volt Battery QuestionsI've been asked the question by a friend if 2, Group 24 marine/RV deep cycle (Interstate) batteries connected in parallel are adequate to operate his electric slideout and landing gear? (2000 Wilderness fiver). I told him I suppose so, but I don't know - don't know what batteries were in his trailer but assume they were like automotive batteries because of the compartment size. I have 2, GC2 6v in my Cougar and suggested he do the same in his; but the battery compartment in his trailer is too small to accommodate GC2's height and too short for Group 27 batteries. What do ya think?? Secondary question: I have an Onan 4K generator (non-inverter)and wonder if it would be better to charge batteries with a Battery Tender plugged into the generator rather than charging with the converter??Re: Sewer odor in trailerTanks for the replies. I'm thinking vent problem also - that I'll check on tomorrow. I'm not ready for a '352' solution - it can't be for real.. can it??Sewer odor in trailerWhen I dump the holding tanks, there is a strong sewer odor inside the trailer. This only happens when the tanks are dumped. We can be parked boondocking for a week and there is no odor at all - even when the toilet flush valve (blade) is held open there is no odor. When I go to a dump station and open the black tank valve is when I get the odor. This has just recently started - the trailer is 9 years old. I'm wondering if a tank vent issue or maybe the toilet blade seal could be the cause. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..Re: HEHR Window ScreensFinally talked with a very nice customer service lady at Hehr International. It turn out that my windows and screens are obsolete, but Hehr some of the clips and springs I need so maybe I'm on my way. :)Re: Installing a disconnect for batteryI put mine (Blue Sea) inside the front storage of my 5ver. Battery cutoff is the only way to go. Switches the positive side.Re: AGM Batteries - Any downside? My downers would be cost and overcharging... Just my opinion..Re: Cummins dieselBANKS POWER.. No question ;)Re: HEHR Window ScreensThe frames are metal and had no clips or retainers installed - the screens were not in the window frames when I got the trailer. I laid the screens flat on a workbench and duct taped the four sides of the frame to the bench before I removed the old spline and screen, so I'm confident that the new screen was not too tight as to deform the frames. Are the plastic clips referred to a spring type clip that actually retains the screen in the window frame? Local RV dealers/service shops have no clue.. By the way... thanks for the responses!Re: HEHR Window ScreensI tried to install by up to put the top into the channel but then when I try to pull it down into the bottom channel the top falls out. Are there any retainers that need to be put on the screens?
