All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Cass WVAfter Cass - - the train ride - - tour the town and learn it's and the area's history. The Greenbank Radio Observatory offers tours and provides an "upclose and personal" opportunity to learn about the work underway to understand what is really out there beyond our solar system and galaxy. Rt.66 west from Cass will take you over the mountain and into the Snowshoe ski and recreational complex. Great summer and winter activities. And, my personal favorite, great trout fishing opportunities both on the Greenbank side and the Snowshoe side. If you are into amateur radio, be advised that the area around Greenbank is a radio quiet zone - - can't transmit. Cell service is (or has been) very limited. Great country - - altho I am a bit biased. BillRe: WV Turnpike--- where to get gas? Advice for newbies?Consider filling in Whytheville, Va at your choice of stations - - the per gal price will be 20-30 cheaper than anywhere in WV. A fun stop on the Turnpike is Tamarack - - fantastic arts and crafts. From Whytheville, you should have enough fuel to escape WV's overly high fuel prices. Pay attention to the speed limits and curve warning notices on the Turnpike - - it gets interesting in places, but not crazy if you are paying attention. EnjoyRe: Commerce, Ga. CampgroundFor "in/near" Commerce, you have a choice of one - - Georgia RV Park. This park has full hook-ups and marginal wi-fi. It also has a large number of permanent residents. If you need a place for a few days or a week, it is adequate. The next closest RV park is 30 miles or so away. Safe TravelsRe: Which cell phoneCheck the current issue of Consumer Reports - - they have a lengthy analysis of cell phones and various plans. Verizon is best overall, but as noted earlier, a "pay as you go" service might be your best bet.Re: Looking at some AirstreamsWith respect to everyone here, this question might be better asked at Airforums.com - - it is populated with well informed Airstream folks. BillRe: 55 Plus Resorts in FloridaAs noted by Nelson, you first need to decide what is important to you, primarily in terms of activities you desire and budget. Then look at the "mainstream vs. out of the way" locations. The Avon Park, Sebring area other posters referenced, while not near a coast, offer an abundance of golf and freshwater fishing, along with reasonable shopping etc. Tampa, Orlando and either coast are an hour away. Best advice we can offer is be flexible to start - - be willing to try several locations your first winter or two so you can find an area/park that is a best fit for you. Have fun!!!!! BillRe: Why won't Yamaha EF6300iSDE generator start A/C on 240 volt?Someone will be along shortly with a better comment, but the short version is - - - your camper does not run on 240v. The 50amp connection for the camper is two 120v legs. Everything on AC circuits is 120v. Hope all is well and no damage done.Re: Newmar owner dealer infoTry North Trail RV in Fort Myers and another location I can't recall at the moment. They are probably the largest Newmar dealer in the east. Good luck - Newmar is hard to beat, dollar for quality. BillRe: Filling a hidden fresh water tankNot certain on your unit, but most I've seen/had have an overflow on the fresh water tank that dumps any excess. Someone with a similar unit will no doubt confirm or correct. Bill
