Any suggestions on routes?Traveling from Virginia to FairbanksHi. Well, we have finally made up our mind that if we are driving from Virginia to Alaska this is the year. We have a slide in truck camper and want to go through the Yukon. We have been to Alaska 3 times but this is the first(and Last)time driving. Plan on leaving the week of July 10th and return date will be determined later. Safe travels. ConnieRe: RVing versus hotels for a trip out west fromVAHHfundays, Actually I am the wife and I am happy to drive. It is my husband that is not looking forward to the drive. I do 90% percent of the driving so he shouldn't worry. My mind is made up to drive and stop every 250-300 miles for the night.Re: RVing versus hotels for a trip out west fromVAThanks to everyone for all of the helpful information. I do most of the driving, which I enjoy, so I would rather drive a vehicle that I am comfortable with. I love our truck camper and the options that it offers. It has a full bath and a small kitchen so we can stop just about anywhere. My brother lives in Silver City NM so we will stay a few nights there then see sights along the way to Mountain Home ID where my son lives. We just came back from a month long trip and I think that my #1 squeeze felt cramped as we stayed most of the month in 1 spot. Thanks again and safe travels.RVing versus hotels for a trip out west fromVAHoney is having second thoughts about driving from VA to NM, ID then home with sightseeing along the way. We have a diesel truck with a self contained slide in. We don't have any time constraints and only want to drive 300 or les miles per day. Your suggestions are welcome. Thanks, ConnieRe: Tips for traveling from Va to AZ-NM north to Yellowstone. Thanks to everyone for your tips/pointers. We don't have any time constraints and prefer off the beaten path travel. We like a firm mattress. Foam seems to be hard to roll over on and hot. Space is 54x73. Thanks in advance. Connie
