Check the date code on the tires and start using covers on them. If they're China bombs, you may want to replace with some G614 Goodyears, or Michelin LT's. A fulltime friend of ours in a toyhauler replaces one or two tires a year, but continues to use cheap tires and won't cover them. Unless you're under a bunch of trees in Lancaster, I don't know how you could only have a few minutes of sunlight on them daily???? Regards, HamshogRe: Newbies Towing a TT with a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - WDS?Hey Jler, Load it up with a full tank of gas and 10 gals of water in the fresh tank and a couple gals. in the black tank and get it weighed at the scales. You can adjust the tongue weight when you know what it is. I use an Equalizer hitch on our Wrangler/TT setup and it works great! No sway at all. Not with wind, or big rigs passing, either direction. Setup your tongue weight, get a good hitch, and have a fun, safe trip!! Regards, HamshogRe: How far can you tow prior to fill up?The Wrangler with our M-180FQ Pegasus Ultra Lite gets 10mpg with no wind, and 9 mpg with a headwind. 19 gallon tank, so I'm looking at 140 to 150 miles for gas. No faster than 62mph. The D/Max with the same trailer gets 11 to 13. A 26 gallon tank, so it's around 225+ miles before fueling. No faster than 70mph. Regards, Hamshog PS- The Pegasus is 3600#'s GVWR, and has D rated, 14" LT tires.Re: Curt 5th wheel hitchHey Bruce, You may just need to buy a new rail kit for the new truck and have it installed. Then you could keep the SuperGlide since you have it already. Regards, Hamshog blue trawler wrote: CWitt, I just called Pullrite and talked with tech support! He said something to the effect that the bolts and tracks conformed to that truck that its in. So, it wouldn't fit? I may call again Monday and get another answer and this time a reason. Stay tuned! Thanks Bruce. Re: Curt 5th wheel hitchHey BT, Not sure why the SuperGlide wouldn't work in the new truck, but if it doesn't, why not go with a Super 5 hitch by PullRite? Same safe, positive locking mechanism, 4 way tilt, and backed by Pullrite. Regards, Hamshog blue trawler wrote: I am starting out with nothing! No rails, so everything will have to be put in! My super glide for my short bed won't work in a long bed according to Pullrite? So I am starting out with nothing Bruce. Re: Portable Washer & Dryer? Here you go! Wonder Washer Regards, HamshogRe: dumping gray water in forestIf while boondocking you left your grey tank open, you wouldn't be holding the water and letting it build bacteria. With a 50 to 100' hose, I don't see any problem, other than attracting critters to a wet spot.. Regards, HamshogRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real Deal dieseldad55 wrote: I am new to the forum. We've been RV'ers for several years, and have had our 5er since late '05. Now that tires are blowing out, cracking, etc., I'm finding more and more info on how important weighing your rig is, especially when looking to purchase new tires. However, I live Sacramento, Ca.,the most ignorant and least informed community when it comes to RV's. I have visited 2 of the largest and oldest RV dealers in this area, and found that no one has a clue as to where to take a fifth wheel trailer & truck to weigh. Also, to find a tire company that can actually help you with tire requirements in relation to trailer weight is near impossible. So, does anybody know for sure, (not looking for maybe's) where I can get my rig weighed??? Hey Dieseldad55, Go to a Truck Stop or Bekins/Mayflower moving&storage place. They have scales that you can weigh on. Regards, HamshogRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real DealStarted fulltiming 3 weeks ago, so when we came down off the mountain yesterday, I pulled into the Cat Scales to see where we were. Steer - 4200#'s Drive - 6780#'s (6830#'s rated tires) Trailer - 13600#'s (14K#'s rated) Total Axles - 24580#'s (Trailer GVWR at 17121#'s) Pin 3580#'s GVW Trailer - 17180#'s I moved a couple hundred pounds from the front storage areas of the coach to my shop to lighten the load a bit. And moved a few things from front storage to the trunk to take some more off the pin. It did pull and handle very nicely..
