I`m thinking we are not going back! Next thing they`ll do is take away the water fountains! Being a Wisconsin transplant from Ohio (by way of IL), I have to correct your lingo by saying that you don't mean "water fountains," - in Wisconsin they are "bubblers." :DRe: Looking for Fall SuggestionsThe Door County peninsula in WI is very popular for fall color seekers. Have fun picking a destination!! :)Re: “Perfect” traveling mealslittlemo - Great minds think alike! Our two favorites are the Wal-Mart/Costco/grocery store rotisserie chicken, and also the cheese and crackers with summer sausage (yes, we are the cliche Wisconsin family who has cheese at almost every meal!). Another suggestion (yes, involving cheese) is a quick bruschetta. Just pack some sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, Triscuits or toasted bread bites, and Italian seasonings (to taste). :) Love all the suggestions - I'm taking notes as well!!Re: RVing with a newbornWe took our daughter right after we bought our PUP - she wasn't quite 2, and she has LOVED it ever since! We are getting ready to take her and our 6 month old son next month for a couple of close trips to get him used to it. I would agree with PP's in that you probably need to pack more than you think, you should try to drive when the munchkins sleep, and have a VERY loose itinerary. We also do a lot of Fall camping to avoid extreme heat and bugs. Enjoy every moment, as they go by way too quickly. Happy Camping!! Re: Pop up purchasing question.Good luck, piney423! In addition to the great information posted above, I think it also depends on how well the previous owner took care of the PUP. We were fortunate enough to buy ours a few years ago from a co-worker's parents. They were the original owners (bought it new in 1994) and took excellent care of it. They hadn't used it in YEARS when we bought it; but opening it up you would think that they religiously cleaned and cared for it. It does have the canvas smell from being outdoors, but that seems to be pretty unavoidable, and airing it out helps quite a bit. Happy camping!!Re: Awning alternative?Wow, those are all great ideas! I'm going to have to run them by DH to see which one he wants to go with (since HE will likely be the one in charge of it). :) THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!!!Re: Awning alternative? Thanks, path1! Yeah, using the portable canopy isn't "horrible", but unfortunately, we can't butt it up against the camper because of the door swing (the door is too high). Ideally, I'd like something that we could just walk out into from the camper (especially if it's sunny/sprinkling) since we have 2 small kids. However, it seriously isn't the end of the world if I don't find an alternative - just wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas!! :)Re: Crock pot in RV?Here is a good crock pot pizza recipe! (more like a pizza casserole, but still tastes delicious!) We are going camping in September for my daughter's birthday and may try it as our first camping crock pot meal! http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/crock-pot-pizzaAwning alternative?Greetings! We bought a 1994 Flagstaff PUP a few years ago and are just starting to increase our camping trips (have two young kids). The awning on the camper was broken when we bought it (we knew this) and thus far we've just been using a separate folding canopy with attachable screen. Is there anything out there that is either made specifically for PUPs or seems to fit well with PUPs that does NOT utilize the attached awning to create either a sun shade or sun shade/screen room combo? With awning replacements being as expensive as they are, we just thought maybe there would be something else similar that wouldn't be "attached" to the PUP. Any input is GREATLY appreciated. Happy Camping!!
