Bedroom slide is cable. Haven't had any issues with either one. From the weight perspective, I can say that the floor seems to flex under your feet at times, so I'd guess they minimized floor thickness and supports. I wouldn't even think of walking on the roof. Bed framing is very light. Decor and cabinetry is quite nice, but simplified to reduce weight. No ceiling fans, etc. Overall, very happy with our unit.Re: Pinging when using propaneI had the same pinging issues on a new camper. I was told it was the pigtails. They were replaced - the pinging was gone.Re: question about staking a power awningI pitch the awning for water run-off and lock the arms. At each end I us a stake, a large spring from the hardware store, and a length of rope. After I tie the rope, I loosen the awning locks so the springs take the force and not the awning structure. I either use the larger plastic stakes or the thin nail like stakes depending on the soil. Never had an issue. No automatic wind sensor on mine and the wind will throw that awning over my trailer in a medium breeze.Re: Ever walk into the wrong trailer?Had an aquaintance walk into the wrong trailer to use the bathroom. (He was visiting a camper friend.) Exited bathroom to a screaming woman. It wasn't a good situation.Re: Birds tapping at rear RV windows . . . advise please. We use a plastic "cling on" window sticker of a hawk on our sliding glass doors at home. Birds used to drive us nuts attacking themselves in the reflection. No problems since we put up the hawk. I think we got that at the aviary.Re: TT Slide OutsMy big slide squeaks, squeals, and shimmies back and forth. Motor seems to struggle. All the surrounding neighbors stop and look at what is making all the racket. I have lubed everything I can get access to including the rack and pinion, slide seals, slide rails, and as far down the screwjack tube as the drylube would reach. Slide unit is squared up and appears to move freely (and quiet) once it gets past a certain point. I even tried the service bulletin Lippert issued regarding lubrication of the pinion gear packs. My unit is a 2013 and has been doing this since I brought it home. Would love to be able to get rid of the noise. Every time I use the slide, I am waiting for something to fail.Re: are you towing with a short bed crew cab? mudmaker wrote: mowin wrote: Contoured cap, short bed. No slider. Ditto. x3 (F250 short bed, Cougar with contoured front cap)Re: RV Direct purchaseI bought my first camper from a wholesaler which was 4 hours away. Never had an issue with service, but some dealers will tell you to buzz off or put you at the end of the line. Others may charge you a processing fee. Some will fit you in without question. You just have to call around. I've experienced all these scenarios personally. But at the end of the day, the bumper to bumper only lasts a year and and component stuff usually 2 years. After that, everyone will provide service at the going shop rate. I fix everything myself when possible. Another consideration - the component warranties are through the manufacturer. I had an awning issue under warranty (recall) that a local dealer wanted $100 to process paperwork. I contacted Dometic and they quickly provided me with several "non RV" locations that were certified repair facilities. Had the awning fixed free of charge with same day service. Never had to unhitch. When I buy my next fiver, I wont hesitate to use a wholesaler although I always give the local guys a chance. (I bought my current fiver from a regular dealership)Re: Fishing for informationI have a "half ton towable" that has not given me any problems over three years. We spend about 30-35 days a summer camping typically traveling within a 4 hour radius of home. I will say that I notice flex in the floor, nor would I walk on the roof. I am 6'4" and 275 pounds, so I notice these things a little more than most.
