That's me - CAT Scale Tickets gave me 15,600 loaded and 9520 with the camper off, loaded for camping with a full tank of fresh water! That's 6080! My 2019 F-450 dooes handle it like it isn't even there, however!Re: Are Your Decals Ugly?Quite a bit late to the thread and not a Artic Fox but I hated my Eagle Cap Logo so took care of that with my vinyl shop, a friends aerial photography and some of my Photoshop magic. http://www.justtruckin.net/images/MyTruck/2015_SuperDuty/Beach_Truck_II_l.jpg ...did the sides and rear too but don't have the image anywhere but on Facebook so can't show them here.Re: Storing Truck Camper Outside finaddict wrote: I took an 8 x 20 Costco shed and raised it up 4 feet with 3" PVC piping. Now I back the camper in and leave it on Heavy duty saw horses and it works great. Not 2' of snow every year, but when we get snow its easy to just push it off diligently during storms. I have had it for 8 years now and changed the cover once about 4 years ago. Camper is bone dry all year and just as important it is out of the sun's UV which is just as damaging. finaddict - would love to see a picture of the shed with the pvc. I've been trying to figure out some kind of shelter for my TC here in Massachusetts. Thanks...Re: Finished our solar Cover for the Camper/Truck/Etc..Sweet idea... looks like it came out really nice!Re: Moving to Mass, Camper/Dually, Commercial License Required? av8rds wrote: mkirsch wrote: You asked a question on an international forum. Re: Thinking about a Ford F350My '08 6.4 has 78,000 miles - mostly highway and a lot of carrying a Lance slide-in camper onto and off of the beach. It's been a very good truck and motor, other than the fuel mileage which S-U-C-K-S. I have had the radiator issue, which was replaced on warranty three years ago. I had a DPF fail last year, which was replaced on warranty and the DOC (Diesel CAT) just failed and was also replaced on warranty. My Engine & Drivetrain warranty runs out in February 2014 - IF either of those last two components fails again after warranty, I'll be in financial trouble. I didn't see the price of the DOC but the DPF was like $3700.00. Not sure what I'm going to do as yet - with the price of Diesel as high as it is, I may go with Ford's new gasoline engine. We'll see... don't know a lot about the Duramax but I do know that the Cummins Diesel motor would excite me, if installed in another truck! I think Dodge's weak point is the rest of their truck. Sorry!Re: Truck camping on othe beach av8rds wrote: jimd1050 wrote: Here's three nice articles from Truck Camper Magazine: http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/off-road-expeditions/jim-duarte-camping-on-sandy-neck-beach The last one, you might recognize... :-) that's my favorite! Wife and I were needing our saltwater fix so we went. After we set up, a large dark cloud appeared on the horizion. Long (and sad) story short, we retreated to the truck while that 50% chance turned into a 110% chance. A huge thunderstorm with 40+ MPH winds ripped throug out site. What took me about an hour to set up, was demolished in about 10 minutes. I NEED A TC! Hey vannma, av8rds reminded me about this forum - that's how he and I met. We were just discussing high tides and what can happen. We were with him on that Columbus Day High Tide he pictured on 05/11/13 07:20pm. It was scary but it was also Daylight! I had the same thing that happened to you, happen to my wife and I in late July of 2012. It all started around 4:00 PM and was supposed to be a passing Thunder Shower. As night fell, it turned in to an all out Nor'easter! My wife and I had been there Saturday and Sunday. The weather sucked but they said Monday was going to be nice, so we stayed and so did our friend John. I had the Jeep so I went to work on Monday - John went home and Patti stayed by herself in the camper. I ended up working late so Patti talked me into staying one more night. I left for work Tuesday morning with a nice weather forecast. Tuesday about noon time, they said we might get a pop-up thunder storm but nothing bad! I left work around 4:00 PM and it was already raining - the closer I got to Cape Cod, the blacker the sky got. I picked up a Pizza and brought it out onto the beach with me - by the time I got out there, I couldn't see the truck and camper until I was about 20 feet away from it. It was pouring and the wind was starting to pick up - my Ez-Up canopy was still up but tied to the legs of the camper. After eating the pizza, the forecast changed to a full out Nor'easter - weathermen! I went out and closed the canopy by myself, leaving the windward leg tied to the right rear leg of the camper. After dark and still 2 hours to high tide, the waves were already 4 feet from the back of the truck! I untied the canopy and threw it in the front basket on the truck, moved the Jeep up as close as I could to the dunes, put all the heavy loose items in or against the Jeep then pulled the jacks up and moved the truck. I was soaked and shaking like a leaf by this time but we were now up high enough to avoid the incoming tide. The road back to the parking lot was already flooded so I couldn't have gotten out if I wanted to. The last picture shows where that high tide came to. It was truly an experience I never want to deal with ever again!!!
