WSE plus cable, wifi, laundry and propane if you can get it.Re: KOA Workamping? We are currently in our 4th KOA as workampers and enjoy it very much. Each opportunity has been from 4 to 7 months long. When it gets cold in the north we head south and when it gets hot in the south we head north. We have a list of must have requirements before we send our resumes to or accept an offer from a kampground. Knowledge of Kamsight and Kampstore is required at many KOA's so one can't be too selective for the first job. However, once you have some experience it is much better. On the topic of the $35 membership fee; this is a nominal fee which I believe keeps the not-serious from signing up. Once you have a workamper "Star" KOA provides up to 5 free camping certificates for you as you travel from one job to the next. IMO that more than covers the membership fee. Like any job, KOA workamping is not for everyone. Every KOA is different and some owners are easier to get along with than others. All in all, IMO, if you do your job and mind your own business you will have more good experiences than bad. Good luck and happy kamping. SmoothRe: yellowstoneDubois / Windriver KOA is about 2 hours south of Yellowstone.Re: Carlsbad NMWe spent last winter in the Carlsbad area. We were half way between Carlsbad and Artesia. Both cities have Walmarts. Restaurants are better in Artesia imo. Good non-denomination church, Paradise Chapel near Carlsbad. There seem to be more jobs than places to live. Hope you have your living space reserved. It was cold last winter and we did get a little snow. If you are working outside I would have warm cloths, long johns and good gloves and hat. It often warms up in the daytime but when the sun goes down it gets cold. Also it can be windy. We rarely put out our awing and never left it out.Re: Where are you work camping? We will be at the Dubois/Wind River KOA in Dubois WY. May 20 thru Labor Day. Stop in and say Hi if you are in the neighborhood. Ray and PatRe: SE Michigan to CaliforniaI agree with 2gypsies. Watch the height and width in Zion. There is a tunnel with size restrictions. I believe if you are over 11'4" or 8 feet wide you need a permit. Check with the park to make sure. We just did the Grand Canyon, Southern Utah NP's and it was grand. Zion was my favorite. We are headed for WY, Grand Teton and Yellowstone. 7 weeks will be a great trip. Have fun and be safe.Re: US189 around Salt Lake City UT? boogie_4wheel wrote: I'd continue north on the 15 into Salt Lake City, then head east on I-80. Do not take the I-215 EB loop. Here's why: 1. 189 is a twisty climb, but not a hard climb. Nice scenery though (drive right past Bridal Veil Falls). At Deer Creek Resv the road is hilly/twisty. Then you have the stop lights in Heber. Long climb out of Heber as you pass Jordanelle Resv. Depending on time of day you may encounter a bunch of traffic heading home to Heber. 2. Avoid the I-215 EB loop because you will have a climb, followed by a decent that you have to brake on while navigating the exit to access the 80 EB. 3. The I-15 to 80 EB exit is a sweeping turn then you only have one major pull, and that is up Parley's Canyon as you head toward Snyderville. The easiest to navigate, maintain speed, and most likely will warrant the best fuel economy will be the I15 to I80. The most scenic is the 189 route. Thanks, That is exactly what I did. I-15 to I-80. I talked to a truck driver in Love's in Provo just before the 189 turn off. He told me the same thing. He said it is a nice drive but would add hours to the trip.Re: Any KOA work kampers? Thanks, We are headed to WY for the summer and LA would be fall and winter. Sorry should have made that clear.US189 around Salt Lake City UT?I'm pulling a 40' 5er headed north thru Cedar City UT on 15 and headed east on I 80. Google maps is suggesting that I take US 189 around Salt Lake City. What do you think? Should I take it or stay on the interstate?
