Why oh why does everyone with a 1/2 to truck (or so it seems) wants to tow a big long trailer right close to all capacities???? That's too much trailer, try something 24' or less and don't believe the maufactureres statements that their trailers are "light." What a joke. I have a '94 GMC Suburban K1500 1/2 ton with 350, 3.73 gears, heavy duty towing package (trans cooler, oil cooler, extra sway bars, etc.) Supposed to be able to tow 10,000 lbs. I tow a 22' 4500 lb Tahoe "Lite" (yeah right, maufactureres info says its supposed to be 2900 dry, it's actually 4300). Use an Equal-I-zer hitch so don't even know it's back there. When we towed a 30' double slide Arctic Fox we did it with an '88 454 3/4 ton Suburban. So, if you buy this trailer, I hope I don't end up on the same hiway with you. Please read the subject line I am looking for advice Thats all Please do not include me with "everyone" I am a nobody Thank you guys for all the ADVICE just to keep LVJJJ on the road I will find another setupRe: Tow Advice F150 1/2 ton mbopp wrote: Short story - not enough truck. It's not about the tow rating, it's about payload and especially rear axle rating. And this is compounded by the fact this is a S-crew - how many people and how much gear are you hauling? What's the yellow payload sticker on the driver's door frame say for your rating? The yellow Sticker Door Jam says The combined weight of occupants and card go should never exceed 1661 lbs Is that the magic number for total hitch weight of TT and passengers and gear If so doesTow Advice F150 1/2 tonWe are looking at a Wildwood 27RKSS Gross Weight 7720 lbs Dry Weight 6355 lbs My F150 as far as I can tell can tow 8000 lbs it is a XLT 4dr SuperCrew 6.5 ft. Try to keep yourself focused on giving each floor plan the same consideration. After you narrow down your choices go back again, and relook the ones that you've narrowed it down to. Even better would be to rent a trailer in several different configurations, but sometimes that's easier said than done. Somethings are more important than others. You just have to try to focus, and not get caught up in the hype the dealer throws at you. Thats why I like RV shows, but that can be overwhelming in itself. Mike Mike Thank you for the info any help is greatly appreciated...I am trying to stay in a size that my 2013 F150 XLT will pull so I also have that to contend withRe: Jayco 24 RKS Price Traver8 wrote: Mike, I concur with the pricing details that the others have given but have another suggestion. Take a look at the floorplan of the JayFlight 26RKS - it is a dealer stock only model right now but it is a very similar floorplan but has a much more viewable television and u-dinette. Not sure what your typical usage is but if it includes much television I would take another look at the placement of the television in the Whitehawk. I have a 2013 26RKS that I have been living in and find that the television is very viewable from the dinette, couch and the kitchen area. Just my 2 cents worth of opinion. Terry Terry I look at that floor plan Thank you for the tip.... I do see what your saying as far as the tv It is defiantly in a better spot..NOW I AM REALLY CONFUSED on what I wantRe: Jayco 24 RKS Price 270wsmhunter wrote: Seems like a pretty fair price. We just bought a 2016 Eagle 284BHBE for $25,900 and MSRP is $38K+. I've seen others say if you can get around 30% off MSRP you're doing well. The $35000.00 Msrp with all the dealer options installed. Is that the price you use or the MSRP before options Because that MSRP IS $28000.00Re: Jayco 24 RKS Price newman fulltimer wrote: seems high to me Care to elaborate?Jayco 24 RKS PriceHello all new to the forum I want to buy my first TT looking at a Jayco White Hawk 24 RKS MSRP $35000.00 They offerd it to me $24900.00 Is that a good price?
