It is definitely the on switch for the water heater. As for the battery, there should be cables on it that run into the camper. The battery never leaves its case on the tongue. Hope this helps!Re: Hitch for a Pop Up CamperI tow my PUP with my Avalanche (1500) which is the same platform as your Silverado. It came from the factory with the standard 2" receiver and yours should be no different (though always double check). I use a 2" hitch ball. My GVW is under 1800 lbs, total length closed ~ 14feet, and you don't even feel it, no need for a sway bar. The only thing that I changed since starting out was replacing the hitch w a 2" drop to an adjustable height ball mount (MaxxHaul 70067 8-Position Adjustable Ball Mount - 5000 lbs. GTW Capacity) for under $20 because of that 2" drop + the slant of my driveway were too low to hook up the PUP in my garage. Lots of good info here and nice people willing to help! Welcome aboard!!Re: Mr. Heater Big Buddy Indoor/Outdoor Propane HeaterI dont know offhand the specs of the furnace in our camper, but our pup is a little smaller. Nonetheless, there is a carbon monoxide detector on the inside. Yours should have one too. You can locate it in the manual (or online) and test it similar to a standard smoke detector. You could buy an after market one as well, but I'll bet my dollar that you already have one.BAL LevelerHi All, Camped over the weekend and ran into a fellow PUP owner and he brought a BAL leveler to my attention. Doing some research, they seem to be quite popular and helpful. I learned that you don't necessarily NEED them, but many are thankful they have one. To date, I've been leveling the PUP with the stabilizer jacks - seems straight forward. My question is whether this is a bad thing to do. Does it put more stress on the trailer/frame to level with just the stabilizers? Appreciate any input.Re: Here we go.....Nice! Sounds like a successful mission. There's always the unexpected on the first Couple of trips. As for wax, I understand that any you can use for cars, you can use on the trailer. Im a fan of Mother's carnuba wax. So far it's been fine, but am interested in hearing other opinions.Re: Here we go..... BizmarksMom wrote: Just don't forget the beer and toilet paper! And not necessarily in that order :)What battery do you use for your PUP?I scanned the threads on these forums and found some really good info regarding batteries. The problem is that most of the recommendations are for larger rigs. So I thought I would poll the PUP folks to see what you use/recommend for a battery? My compartment is 11" x 7" x 8.5", not sure how that compares to others. Also, I have an e-lift. Does it make a difference? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!Re: Help needed for Roof not raising all the way.Brave, It worked fine 2 out of 2 times on battery, so I figured the charge was good. While camping, I forgot the key to the battery so i just plugged in and the lift worked, but not quite all the way.Re: Help needed for Roof not raising all the way.Hi All, Im brand new to PUP life and the site. This thread caught my eye as the last time I went camping (my first time actually using it), I had the same issue. I bought a 2013 Flagsaff MAC used, though it was supposedly used only 4 times. It still smalls new and everything is in great shape, so I don't doubt the # times used. During the initial setup/tear down test, it lifted fine (on battery). I got home and tested again (on battery) and was fine. Used it at the camp ground plugged into 30amp power source, and it came up short. Looking under it, the cable is greased (though I will do it again) but doesn't look flat anywhere. What are other starting points for trouble shooting? Are there start/stop points that need to be set like a garage door that may need recalibrating? Any insight would be greatly appreciated and apologies in advance for the novel. GNO
