Seems to me that I would be PISSED at either Jayco or Ram. I see a lot of late model Dodges towing 5th wheels (me included) so it sure seems like Jayco is dropping the ball by not allowing for more pinbox adjustment or by building there trailers to low or something....... I agree...and it's not because it's "half ton" towable. I compared my box/bed height to some new half ton 4x4s and I'm within 2", so even the half tons would be towing quite unlevel as the 5" didn't even get it there. With larger tires it should be real close.Re: Subframe lift. laknox wrote: rrwantr wrote: laknox wrote: Looks very nice. Lyle I thought about it, but figured this is much stronger than stock as it is. .250 wall on the sides with additional .120 walled cross members. Additional welding on the joints. .250 thick hangers vs 3/16. Thicker shackles. I was thinking more about stiffening the main frame... Personally, an Eagle HT is on my short list. Shouldn't need a lift if I stay with my '02 D'max, though. Still, a very clean job. Lyle Thanks! Understood. The 2 added 2x6 .120 walled crossmembers should help with stiffening the frame some. Agree more would help, but then eventually I'd have a whole new frame and be 2x as heavy. :)Re: Subframe lift. laknox wrote: Looks very nice. Prior to this the bottom step was only about an inch or so off the ground. Now it's about the same as the rest of them. The stabilizers could use some length, but then I'd lose clearance back there....so probably just some blocks.Re: Subframe lift.Yes, truck is stock height. I had one hole of adjustment on the pin box that would have helped some, but would have reduced clearance to the bed rails which was at 7 in the front and 5ish at the tail gate. So I didn't want to do that. I'm planning on putting on upgrading the trailer to 16s and some decent tires. Also put the wet bolt kit in replacing those plastic "bushings".Re: Subframe lift.Haven't measured it since. Before the lift it was just over 12 feet. So now it should be about 12.5. Removed the factory 1" lift and added the 6". So 5" of overall difference. Here's what it was. Re: Subframe lift. Here's how it sat stock....pretty bad angle. Re: Subframe lift. Subframe lift.Just finished a 2 day project of putting a subframe under our Jayco to get it close to being level. Sits much better now. Glad I decided to take the time to do it. Will also definitely help in some of the boon docking we do. Re: Looking for boondocking near Bishop / Big PineThere's a dry campground right up near bristlecone. Shouldn't be a problem getting your rig in there. Here's a Google maps link. Dropped Pin near White Mountain Rd Inyo National Forest CA http://maps.google.com/?q=37.333910,-118.186833&hl=en&gl=us
