Last year my wife and I went from Maryland to Orlando Florida and back. While we did stay at a camp ground the majority of the time we did stay the night at a few Wal Marts and Cracker Barrel Restaurants. We only were ask to leave from one Wal Mart in Florida. This did not occur until around 3:00 am. I just moved across the street to a grocery store parking lot. We traveled around Florida in our Class "B" for close to a month. the camp ground at Disney was terrific and we stayed on the beach in Ormond Florida at a beautiful little camp ground. Trouble with Onan gen again. Starts but would not produce electric. Removed from camper and took to Onan dealer. Said voltage reg. bad, some wiring and broken teeth on starter. also need some bands replaced?? Price to repair $1,200.00. Have already replaced carb and many parts over the years. Unit is a 2800 and is 17 years old but with only 280 run hours. I have priced a new Onan and others that will fit into my RV limited space. This was over $2,800 plus. Is the cost to repair worth it? I bought mine used so the maint. history is unknown. The main problem seems to be finding someone that knows all about them. I have a 1996 Explore Class B with a Onan Gen. I have put more money into it than I care to say. New carb. 5 different shops in different states and always another problem with it operating properly. If I could find another gen. maker (never an Onan)to fit in the same place I would in a heart beat. Last trip it runs fine until sometime during the night then just quits. have to get up and restart it. Have herd of NOTHING but problems with Onan.434Views0likes0Comments
