I am now preparing some alternatives in advance for this route and i certainly consider yours advice. Its very important to me that the first days will be smooth. Its 1st time that we are doing this and i needed to bridge some vetto and proof the worth of this type of traveling . Any tips is helpful. Danny.Re: from La ,anahaim go grand canyon doubtsHi, thanks for the prompt reply. We are inttending to visit Las Vegas in the continuance of the trip. Williams looks very attractive but to get there in the first day after receiving the RV look very ambitions for us. Needels look as a good choice and its on the most limit for 1st day driving. In case that the familiy would like to park afternoon , i wonder if there is a nice place to stay overnight much closer to santa fe (around 2v hours driving) on the way to grand Canyon with some entertaiment or other attractions for the family before arriving grand canyon.? Thanks. Danny.Re: from La ,anahaim go grand canyon doubts kalynzoo wrote: I have always felt the trip is just part of the fun and vacation. It is possible to drive to the Grand Canyon in one shift, but not for me. You could just take I-40 stopping around Needles then on to the Canyon. My choice, which we have followed many times, is the first night in Las Vegas, then down highway 93 to the 40 and basecamp in Williams Arizona. One advantage is with a brand new rig you will be overnighting in Las Vegas, a city with many RV service businesses. Hopefully your new rig will be problem free and ready for the road, but things happen. On our maiden trip the hot water would not come on, it turned out the water-heater was unplugged. But it is better to diagnose in a city rather than a small town. Then basecamp in Williams. We really like the Circle of Pines KOA in Williams. Indoor heated pool, large sites, quiet, family friendly, perfect. Do not miss Bearazona drive through animal park in Williams. Fun for adults and children alike. If you have little ones the Deer Park petting zoo is also a worthwhile trip. If you have a moment on the way, take the turnoff to Seligman, just to drive through the rather historic antique town (very small short town) and just of the I-40 with easy re-entry. Have fun, and Happy Trails. from La ,anahaim go grand canyon doubtsHi. I am receiving the RV at 11am.at Santa fe area LA. My first location is the grand canyon. I saw that its along way drive in one time, considering that we need to purchase food in the Walmart... About 2hr of process. Please your advise how to calculate the best route ,can be with a stop overnight in the way. If there are some atraction that I can add to my family ,in their first time with RV,on the way. Also since its our first trip with RV ,I would like to consider that smoothest managing in the first and second days are essential for the RV adventure success. Thanks for your support. Danny.
