Years ago (late 90's and early 2000s) I had a friend who had one that had like a loft instead of a bedroom similar to what you see in a gooseneck horse trailer, but it was a 5th wheel and it was a toy hauler. If memory serves me right It was a "Thoroughbred" model or something like that. Anyone know of a 5th wheel toy hauler that's not really tall? Thanx in advance:Dou Therm 57915.622 won't work.I have a 1999 Newmar American Star XL With one roof air (57915.622) and one furnace (I have not found a label on it yet) with a 4 button thermostat, that I just picked up and they didn't work at that time. At this time neither unit works (A/C or Furnace) but I have power to the thermostat. I believe that I have tracked it down to the electric kit (controller) 3106481.009. 119 AC volts and 12+ volts are at the controller. I contacted Dou Therm and they do not have parts to repair or upgrade these units. If they had the parts I would be willing to upgrade, but since winter is coming on and I have a disadvantaged veteran who was homeless living in my camper at the preset time, I would like safe heating. Also everything else works on this camper All I need for now is heat and was wondering if there was a way to run just the furnace without going through the rooftop A/C. I have extensive automotive and truck electrical experience so I feel confident that I could modify it for the winter until Dou Therm gets the correct parts. I'm sure that I would have to change out the thermostat, which is no big problem, if I know which one will work ... probably an older RV analog style. Any Ideas, since running electric heaters is going to be expensive and I don't like to try and draw 2-1500 watt electric heaters on the 30 Amp service. Thanx in advance for any help.Lo-ProfileWhat is the lowest profile (height wise) 5er out there today. I have a 2002 K-Z Coyote Toyhauler and the ramp door hinges broke on both sides. I have checked with the dealers around Cookeville and Lebanon and neither want to touch this problem. Any ideas on a trailer company who would replace the hinges between Nashville and Knoxville or even Chattanooga? Thanx in advance:Re: License plate locations in different states with TC mountedTCINTN, thanks for the local info. I'm in Sparta. Maybe coffee sometime?Re: License plate locations in different states with TC mounted TCINTN wrote: Mike, I live outside of Nashville and have been carrying a TC for at least 20 plus years and the plate has staid on truck the whole time. We travel all over the country looking to trout fish and work disasters and no problems. Had officer tell me that it was the truck which was licensed and not camper so leave it on the truck. Thanx TCINTN. One of the LEO's told me to leave it on the truck, but with the 6 foot overhang, you can 't see the plate on the truck. I thought that I saw a post about photocopying the plate and putting photocopy on the license plate holder on the TC. I'll give it a shot here in Sparta.License plate locations in different states with TC mountedIs there a site that would explain if and when License plates are required in different states. Does the TC need it own registration, does it use the truck's plate? Does the truck's license plate stay on the truck or do you have to change it from the truck to the TC. I just moved to Tennessee and I have received two different explanations from Law enforcement. One said move the truck plate to the camper and the other said leave it on the truck.Re: Cost of a new EPDM roof?I finally got my camper up to Fun-n-Sun in Ludington, three weeks ago. Don, the serviceman, told me that there were a couple ahead of me and that it would be three to four weeks until it was ready. Last Wednesday Don called and told me that the camper was ready. I could not get anyone to give me a ride until today and they were ok with the wait. I must say that I was pleasantly pleased with the new roof. They replaced the entire wooden underlayment, rather than just the one piece that the tree branch went through. It is solid now. New fittings on the roof, to include a new bathroom lighted fan vent. We discussed that all edges were taped before the membrane was laid down. He even moved my stack vents away from the roof rack so that it will be easier to change them in the future, if they get broken or beat up by the sun. The best thing about they job was the excellent job that he did on the interior. Be matched the ceiling fabric perfectly. This is a 1997 model and we both were concerned that it would not be able to get a color match ... but it is perfect. I also had three estimates before I took it to Fun-n-Sun. General RV gave me an estimate of over $8000.00 and then wanted $80.00 just for the estimate. They told me that there was going to be a charge AFTER they started to look at my camper. It will be a cold day at the center of this earth before I EVER step foot on any General RV lot. I also got an estimate from Camping World and they were just a little higher than Fun-n-Sun. The thing that sold me on Fun-n-Sun was not just the price, but the amount of time that they spent with me on the phone and working with me on the time factor. (I had an illness and finally a death in the family) But 4 months after they gave me the estimate, they honored their price ... plus they made sure that the roof was done perfectly. New fittings that they had not included on the original estimate, replacing the entire wood enderlayment, and the icing on the cake was that they replaced the bathroom lighted fan vent. Doing the job above and beyond is putting it mildly. I drove driving rain and high winds all the way from Lansing to the house, probably 100 miles, and checked the interior when I parked in the drive. Dry as a bone on the inside. I must say that if there is anyone that needs a new roof installed and is willing to go to Ludington, MI., Fun-n-Sun is the place to have it done. Finally thanx to Travelnutz for letting me know about Fun-n-Sun and Don.
