You have to leave the transmission in neutral till you switch the engine off; then put it in park. Turn the ignition to ACC. The battery needs to be hooked up to your RV 12 volt system to keep the Toyotas battery happy. The output shaft to the rear wheels drives the lube pump inside the transfer case. You can test this by seeing if you can drive the car with the transfer case in neutral......mine does not move. I have a friend who has a 2009 FJ 4x4 auto and after 9000 miles of trouble free towing he is quite happy. Because the front wheels will drive the front axles, front differential and transfer case front wheel drive output shaft Off Road Solutions are working ona locking hub kit for the FJ Cruiser. The Toyota FJ Cruiser with MANUAL transmission CANNOT be flat towed.Re: Let Me Know if You Have Allison Transmission Fluid QuestionsWelcome! Ok .We have a 2000 Beaver Marquis with a Cat C12 coupled to an Alison HD 4060 6 speed Transmission. In January 2011 we switched to TranSynd TES-295 . We did not flush, just drained, changed the filters and refilled with 7 gallons TES-295 . Total capacity is 9 gallons. We were told to drive 25,000 miles before refilling with TES-295 . The second fill would give us better than 95% TES-295 and Alison would warranty it after this . As a matter of interest, we have noted the operating temp has dropped from around 200 deg F to 175 deg F. An amazing drop, which we know will give us better longevity . We have put 10,000 miles on the coach since we purchased in March 2010 with trips from Florida to Canada ,Cabo San Lucas, Baja.Mexico and now back to Florida from San Diego. Do you have any additional information for us? Lookin forward to your comments.
