Then it needed a new thermostat, covered under warranty as it was replaced last January. Next, with all this snow, new wiper blades.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I got mine home and all ready to combat winter and couldn't back into my driveway. It's at the shop now and looks like it needs a transmission rebuild. *sniff* On the bright side, it does have nearly 300 000 km on it.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I can't say I'VE done anything as these days my health requires me to pay someone else but the old beastie is currently in the shop getting the winter tires put on, best of the old ones going on as a spare and spare rim getting cleaned up and repainted. I am also adding a small camera under the passenger mirror for backing up because I can't see the parking lot lines (or the edge of my driveway) when the mirror is set for proper road usage. I have a spot mirror but don't trust convex mirrors as far as distance between me and any vehicle next to me in tight quarters. It's also getting oiled underneath, an oil change and a bog problem looked at that happens when it's cold. Sewage is drained, water is drained and all ready for winter as it's my winter daily driver since I will be storing the car since some surface rust showed up after winter last year and I don't want to see it get worse.Re: 1977 Dodge Van Class B Conversion Restoration ThreadIt looks great!Re: MPG woesI think '90 might be fuel injected. I know the 302 was in '88 but also seem to recall Ford made a 4 bbl version of the 351 quite late so could be? But good points and I guess I should add for comparison the 318 in the Dodge is fuel injected and has a 3 spd auto. (No idea which one, 904? 727?)Re: MPG woesHe said he has a 5.8 (351) and the Dodge has the 318 so I'd think if anything the Ford would be a bit better since the Dodge is slightly underpowered. My Uncle has an '88 Ford with the 302 and although I think it's actually lighter than my Dodge I think it is worse for gas mileage. Thing is though, I've never done the numbers on his Ford. Either way, I felt the Dodge was close enough in general to get a ballpark as it seems no one else has any numbers that closer reflect his unit. Of course the higher speeds could also be a factor. Cheers all!!Re: MPG woesIt seems a little low to me but not by much. I have a 1989 Dodge B250 with a similar top. I did take the rooftop A/C off this past winter as I found it was really catching the wind badly in a storm but so far mpg is about the same as last year. It'll get anywhere from 10 1/2 to 13 mpg in mixed driving as I use it quite regularly as a daily driver. I know the lowest was during the winter at as low as 7 mpg in January but can't count that as it's irrelevant to your driving. So far this summer it's been getting 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 and though a lot of in town we are in a small village in a rural area so fairly long runs. I do fine that dropping the cruise from about 100 km/h (62 mph) to the 85 km/h (just about 50 mph) will make a 2 mpg difference. Tanks where I've done a lot of back roads and steady at the slower speed will return closer to 13 mpg although I only fill up about once a month so still getting a handle on this summer's mpg. This may not help a lot but since it is real world driving and I keep track of mpg (U.S.) to the 100th of an mpg I thought I'd throw it on here. Cheers.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?Driving it to Dr's office today then checking the mail on the way home as it's my daily driver. Last week we drove through the worse snow I've driven through in years, couldn't see the side of the road and it got seriously dark. At points we were down to 10 km/h with the 4 ways on as we had no idea where the road was. The van pulled through like a champ though with 4 winter tires and 7000 pounds, lol. It also now has LED headlights which are recent and are one of the best things I've added. I had the roof air taken off week before last and it now has a backup cam. Next week it goes into the shop again for some stereo work. Of course "I" didn't do any of it as my health won't allow me so maybe it's "What did you have someone else do to your Class B?" for me!! lol.:DRe: How often do you drive your RV?Almost every day I drive as I don't drive every day because I'm retired. It's my "SUV", heh. It doesn't have winter tires (Just All Terrains) so if I have to go far from in town stuff I use my '85 Olds which has 4 winter tires on it but around town I use the van.Re: Vintage B'sMine is an '89 and my daily driver along with an '85 Olds 88. My wife quite loves the comments either one gets regularly. She says she's really glad we didn't buy some boring modern CUV/SUV as I originally budgeted for. My kids feel the same. Actually I was saying I might sell the van this summer but they put their collective feet down and said 'NO DAD, YOU CAN'T!" lol.
