All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: places to eat in BransonKentucky_Joe, Left Branson this past May 2014 after spending 15 months Workamping at the Dewey Short Visitors Center for the Ozark Rivers Heritage Foundation and the COE. Don't remember you? As for eating places their are many to choose from. You can go down to the Landing and find several top notch eateries. You can go to the Dixie Stampede for the show and food. Then there is BT-Bones. Silver Dollar City has pretty good food as does the Grand Country. You have pizza, but the best pizza is in Branson West at the Pizza by the Chef and next door there is Tequila II. Other Mexican Fare is in Holister and they have good pizza in Holister, Hook and Ladder. You have Golden Coral across from McFarlins. You have BBQ several places but Danna's is the best. You can go out to the Chateau on the Lake if your wallet is stuffed in green. You can go out to Indian Point and get some good Cajun Food, as well as Charlie's Steak and Seafood or eat on Hwy 76 at Charlie's Steak and Seafood. You have Bob Evan's by I65, there is Clockers Café downtown, Jackie Be Good, Midtown Cafe, Hard Rock Café, and so on for more space than I have here and more time & money than you have to spend in the Branson Area. They even have a several seafood places and some great deserts at Freddies, Andy's Custard along with many others. Bon Appetite.Re: Running single rig AC unit on a 20amp circuit. In my view you should invest in a generator. Then all you need to do is buy gas. You should get about 12 hours of run time per tank. Can't do that? Run your water heater on propane or turn off your water heater unless you want to bathe. Do you use a microwave? Would think that using that would really draw all your load away from everything else. Low voltage will damage your computer, printer, and flat screen. Over time and continuous low voltage will damage and shorten the life of your AC compressor unit, if it is the original unit it's already 10 years old and typically near the end of it's life cycle if you have used it very much over the 10 years and have not preformed proper preventive maintenance. You can always use a good quality extension cord and power up your electronic devises that way. Your RV is not built to NEC code requirements, that's why RV builders can use under sized wiring in RVs.Re: Full timingCome on folks!! How many full time RV'ers are out here? How many of them have Debit cards? How many have retirement and Social Security checks going to a bank? How many have credit cards with multiple lenders? How many of these RV'ers have zero trouble with their finances? At least one I know of. If your going to full time use Escapees as your mail service. For insurance contact Foremost Insurance, they own State Farm, Foremost insures hundreds of RV owners.Re: Coast to Coast...No Thanks.Being one their properties it is. Being a membership property it is not. The Compton Ridge park is open to the general public and is not selling memberships to that park as OCP does it's other properties where you can stay for free as a member of a particular property and pay a reduced rate at their other properties. OCP and C2C are not the same but do share their membership lists and promote each others business interests.Re: Satelite Tv FulltimingDirect TV Slim Line Dish, Tripod, 50' Coax cable, hand compass, and computer. Go on Direct TV site and input your location to get your coordinates, adjust your dish and point it to the South by South East. Put your TV on Cable and navigate to setup and signal strength and then rotate your dish to get the highest % of signal strength you can get. After you do this as stated above a few times it takes you about 15 to 30 minutes and only gets easier over time.Re: Coast to Coast...No Thanks.Compton Ridge Campground is not a membership park for Ocean Canyon Properties. We left Branson in May and looked into Ocean Canyon Properties purchase of Compton Ridge when they claimed ownership on the sign out front. They informed us at that time they would not be a membership park format there. We have been members of OCP for over 7 years. We went to their sales presentation and it sounded like something we could use. It was sold to us as an investment in the local park where we affiliated. After a couple of years we saw no improvements to our local park, in fact we saw reduced services there but OCP keep buying more parks and selling memberships for them. Since we were locked into our contract we paid our contract off in full and they keep billing us for that yearly maintenance fee, ours is $365 per year. When we informed them we didn't intend to use their parks at all they said okay and keep right on sending the yearly maintenance fee bill. It's there view that the maintenance fee is forever and you can not opt out. Keep in mind as well that once you purchase your membership you can not sell or transfer it with out OCP approval. They maintain complete control over who their members are.Re: WD 40 on Glide outs, Jacks, & Landing Gear ? frankdamp wrote: What kind of jacks? If they're hydraulic, I wouldn't put any kind of lubricant on the piston rods when extended. There's a risk of contaminating the system's hydraulc oil when they next retract. Won't happen. The seal that prevents the hydraulic fluid from escaping, leaking out, will prevent, wipe, the piston rods when they retract. Also in a high salt air area I wouldn't use WD-40 but would keep a silicone base lube on the piston rods and any other polished or chromed exposed surfaces.Re: Resume sample for work campingSuggest you go to WorkamperNews.com. They have a very good process that can help you begin and update your resume. Generally you would need to list your computer experience, your yard care experience, and any experience you may have working with the general public. While many people who Workamp have risen to upper management and leadership positions in their 9 to 5 X 40 jobs that won't help you take orders and follow them, mow or weed eat, clean restrooms, rec halls. etc. What you need to bring to the Workamping life style is a willingness to work and be a team player with a flexible attitude and a tough skin.Re: Gate Attendants versus Campground HostingWe were Gate Attendants for the COE at a swimming beach, Thursday though Sunday 12pm to 6pm, could rant about the lack of professionalism by the COE Rangers but I won't, suffice it to say we won't do that position again. We did have a position working directly for the COE out of the CORPS Office, DW was the main desk receptionist and I did park maintenance where I was given an assignment at 8am out in a campground and told not to return until 4pm, make it last. We worked 16 hours a week. We were Volunteers at a COE Visitors Center and worked with Camp Ground Hosts, from that we learned that the bid process and the hours were not for us and the Park Rest Room Cleaners also bid for their positions and have to provide all their supplies for the position, this is not for us either. We did enjoy our time as Hosts and Guides at the Visitors Center.Re: Fridge QuestionNeed to make sure that you are getting AC power to your heater probe. You have a control module that is the brain of your system. If your coil were bad you would never get any cooling, so if your cooling on gas then your control card is bad and you can order a new one on line.
