I've been RVing for over 40yrs and have never had tank level gauge's that work more than a couple years.Re: Emptying Holding Tanks TheCalicoCruisers wrote: I was just wondering how hard it is to empty the tanks. It's something I need to know before buying an RV. I have cardiac issues and don't want to find out it's too heavy after it's too late. I guess what I'm asking is approximate weight of the tools involved. Thank you. A strap wrench is handy sometimes when the snap on hose hangs up. I put Vaseline on mine to keep it easy to remove.5th wheel vs goose neck hitchI'm interested in ideas on goose neck hitch reviews vs 5th wheels. I know a few people who tow with the goose neck, mainly because they pull other trailers with their tow vehicle. Any input would be good helpful. One thing I've found out is the goose neck is rated almost double the towing weight of the 5th wheel.Re: forest river qualityI think Forest River RV's are as good as any out there. If your talking about a specific problem, let's hear it, but to say a company is bad without an explanation is not good business. I've had two Cardinals and one Cobra and will certainly look at Forest River products when I get another one. My 2004 is getting old but is still doing what I want it to do.Re: forest river qualityKY JOE, what problem did you have with your FR product? You made a huge statement without an explanation. I've had two Cardinals and will buy a third when needed.Re: Travel Centers America 2oldman wrote: What is the purpose of getting a receipt? they keep your cardRe: Getting expensiveIf price is concerning, you probably need a motel. A RV will only depreciate. It pays out in enjoying the outdoors, meeting new people, seeing new places doing new things. You can do some of these from a motel, but lose the interaction with people. I bought a new 2004 Cardinal 35ft 5th wheel for $38,000 and today it's worth about $15,000 and had to have tires twice, batterys, insurance, license plates, new slide motor, and wheel bearings. What did we get for our money? FRIENDS! We now have friends that are as close as family from New Hampshire, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona,Georgia,Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Michigan, Wisconsin,,,, What wonderful people that I would have never met had I not bought that RV. It was worth every penny.Re: Getting expensive westend wrote: It's worth it to me but: 10 Gas, not diesel 2)Boondock mostly, small or no fees 3) No payments 4) Solar brings self sustainability with creature comforts 5)No storage fees 6) Master explorer of the open road--priceless SO MANY PLACES NOW WON'T EVEN LET YOU BOONDOCK
