All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Generator Fuel Leaks and Safety IssuesThanks for the heads up. I replaced the filter at the carb. in our new to us, 2000 f53 with a Marquis 5500 and had an immediate leak at the threads. I nervously tightened it and it seemed ok while running but in the heat when shut down it remained pressurized and leaked a little. What a stink! I noticed pictures online of the filter and it had a red-ish tread sealing compound preapplied, mine did not. So I used yellow teflon tape, which is gasoline proof and it solved the problem. After reading your post I am now planning to replace the pump, lines and clamps. Like they say "an ounce of prevention.....prevents a fiery wreck " or something like that.Re: My first battle scar . Careful who you let spot youWatched a guy in a new C-class back into the site beside us. Tried to warn him of the low hanging branch. He shushed me and said he has a backing camera. Crunch! I tried to warn him. But I have learned over the years, don't spot unless asked.Re: Wireless Light Swtch PanelNot multifunctional but would work. LED Video with host Mark PolkRe: Basement Air QuestionMy 2000 Fleetwood southwind has an extra vent on the furnace that outlets into the basement. So the furnace heats both upper and lower with no way to control them individually. I am installing a flap valve to turn off the basement heat.Re: side windows whistle on 2013 sightseer 33cSounds like a happy camper.... We had an awning that whistled on our old RV, we sold it last fall. We just received a phone call from the nice family that bought it. They are on holidays and wondered why the camper is whistling. After 16 years didn't even notice it anymore.Re: Help with towingI have the same problem so I ended up Flat Towing my modified TJ. Even with an aluminum car hauler your going to be over 5000. My buddy upgraded his hitch and had the frame reinforced to theoretically 10,000lbs, that being just a guesstimate. So he is at about 5700 lbs which is the Jeep (TJ) and aluminum trailer. He has a 29' with a A-class ford f-53 Chassis so there is not very much extension off the original frame, which helps. Look's solid to me.Re: An ounce of prevention.....Yah it's funny, the first thing I noticed last fall was the shore power plug looked nasty. The hot lead blade on the plug had heated up at some point discoloring and melting the surrounding plastic. I just cleaned it up , shortened the wires and reassembled. I thought it could have just been a bad outlet. Could it be related? It was parked in Florida and does have two AC units. An ounce of prevention.....This topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 28800791An ounce of prevention.....Well like the title says, "an ounce of prevention.... is worth a pound of cure" or in my cause possibly a burned out hulk of an RV. I've been anxiously waiting for it to warm up outside so I can finish some projects in my RV. We just picked up this A Class Fleetwood Southwind last fall and it is a fixer upper but hey, the price was right. So I was poking around looking for any potential issues that I could address before they become a problem. I am a firm believer in preventive maintenance, especially owning older vehicles. At this point the To-Do list is extensive. Today I was into the Power Tek power panel. This one has the built in Transfer relay, I was looking for burned or corroded relay contacts. They looked great with no discoloration that would indicate heat from corroded contacts. Then I looked at the main wires that came in from shore power and the generator. They looked ok but I pulled them out a bit to take a closer look. It was then that the electrical tape around one of the wingnut connectors fell away revealing THIS!:E (see pic) Oh well , an easy fix preventing a possible problem down the road. Re: Canadian Winter + Floating Interlocking Vinyl Planking? You can get a felt underlay that has a foil side that is made to put under wood floors, I think it would work well under vinyl. Two way carpet tape around the edges works and it is stickier than Moose snot. Homedepot.ca has it, "Silver Lining Plus Acoustical Underlayment" If you want some aditional acoustic underlay simular to Dynamat try "Resisto Self-adhesive membrane composed of SBS modified bitumen. Aluminum on one side UV resistant. Reflects heat." Rona and Homehardware have it at a fraction of the price of Dynamat.Put it under the Felt it's only 2mm thick. That will insulate and keep things nice a quiet.
