Our Monaco was totaled after a crash in Bakersfield, with heavy damage to the rear cap and all the way up the left side. When I first saw the damage done by a large truck, I told my wife 'we will never again be able to drive this RV" However, we have no slides, and the frame, I believe, was stronger and it kept all the damage cosmetic and all systems worked and we were able to drive the rig back to Phoenix and dropped it off at Ultimate Collision and RV in Peoria. With an older rig, it was getting impossible to locate parts in salvage yards, and the largest yard in Kentucky, Visione, had nothing left that would fit. The Ultimate Collision crew was able to get parts from other Monaco's at Arizona RV Salvage, such as a Monaco Diplomat which provided the huge fiberglass section from the left corner up to in front of the rear wheel. I got some doors from Victorville, an aluminum hub from Missouri and they were able to get started. Just saw a photo of the Rig in the paint booth and it is quite incredible how its coming together. Robbie, their fiberglass expert is a true artist. I'm glad Freightliner in Avondale recommended Sunny Singh and his crew. We have full photos on the Monacoers Forum. search for crash damage. https://www.monacoers.org/forum/1-motorhome-discussions/ Wineguard Pro Traveler Direct TV dish has been a disaster! We were on vacation this summer our Winegard Direct TV HD dish failed with the notice "antenna comm failure" We were told the dish was shot and had to order another one, at $2400 they don't come cheaply. When the tech installed the new dish and box, it went up ok, locked in on the satellites but when we went to put it down, the box fried. You could smelt the wires had overheated. He ordered a new box and circuit board and after installation, that fried as well. Then Winegard sent him the entire new bottom thinking maybe a wire was pinched inside. We just installed that and again it won't work and the box smells friend. Our electrical system checks out with no problems but -but the tech has never seen anything like it. 3 bad parts exchanged and it still won't work. He doesn't know what else to do? Has anybody had this difficulty lately with a Winguard Pro Traveler. It was ordered thru Camping World. Winguard has not tested the returned unit yet and we are waiting for them to get back to us. Any help would be appreciated. Re: What happened to our RV.net?? Rv net use to be so good. its a disaster now Re: Blue Ox bade plates bolts falling offI just got this email from Blue Ox technical support on the type of bolts I need to use for the base plate that's used for the Hummer H2. They said: Those are just standard Grade 5 bolts. Should be able to pick up at a hardware store even. ½”-13 x 2” grade 5 zinc plated. Be sure to use red lock tite and torque to 78 ft. lbs. Also be sure to check the base plate and frame of the H2 for any damage before re-installingRe: Blue Ox bade plates bolts falling offGreat questions and the installer was Al's RV on Bell Road in Phoenix but they're no longer in business they were a Blue Ox dealer and this was done many yearsBlue Ox bade plates bolts falling offHere's a new one. when I went to hook up our tow car this morning in Albuquerque I pulled on the base plate and it wiggled back and forth. I have been noticing a grinding action while Towing the car the last few days and to my shock, two of the three attachment bolts had fallen out of the base plate. on the other side one was sheared off. It wasn't any way to put new bolts in there on my own because the inside was inaccessible without the bumper coming off. Admittedly our tow car is a big one, a Hummer H2 which our Monaco Dynasty tows very easily and every few years I actually replace the Blue Ox hitch to make sure I have one that hasn't been stressed for a long time. there wasn't anybody in Albuquerque who could fix it right away so my wife jumped into the car and drove it herself. following the RV back to Phoenix where we can get it repaired. So my tip would be once in a while, when you're checking your hitch check the bolts on the base plate to make sure they have them jiggled out or sheared off. I called Blue Ox and they were amazed also and told me not to use it as it could cause an accidentRe: Chaffed & leaking fuel lines in your motor coach? beware!Yes I agree. the hoses are not a big factor. I was talking to the owner of a 2000 Monaco Dynasty the other day and told him of the fuel line replacement and I was surprised when he said he had airequippe hoses that were used in 2000 and are better hoses and he was ignoring replacing any of them. Not a good decision. I don't think they could be THAT much better for 25 years?Re: Chaffed & leaking fuel lines in your motor coach? beware!Yes I agree. the hoses are not a big factor. We have been on the road all day. Clearly, you're right but it's a bitter pill to swallow and I wonder how many owners of a 25-year-old RV have replaced all fuel lines. A huge expense. Airbags are also supposed to be replaced I believe every 15 years. we did that a few years ago and that's about a four or $5,000 cost,, and very hard to get the correct part numbers many years after it's sold the part numbers are usually worn off of the airbags. We'll look at continuing to replace in stages the rest of the fuel lines but since most people don't do this, I was offering our advice on what to do in a pinch because nobody will touch a fuel leak problem. You may as well be carrying a case of dynamite on board!
