I did pretty well up to the point where she asked if the picture of you & Old Fella was 'current' one. You can't look at those pictures without seeing the love in his eyes for you! Old Fella would be sooo proud!!!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Although I don't get here to post much anymore, I specifically wanted to come on today and also remind everyone to vote for the Old Fella Shelter. I have been voting from home and work every day, and will give the "every couple of hours" idea a shot too! Thanks for the tip! KarenRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard & Sue I am so sorry to hear of Old Fella's passing. My heart breaks for you. You gave him a wonderful, loving home during the last years of his life, and he in turn has touched the hearts of countless people. Anyone know of a good campground near there? Richard, in 2003 we spent Memorial Day weekend at the KOA at Boone. We really enjoyed it. The campground was in a valley between close set hills, with a mix of park units and RVs in one area, and tent camping areas in the trees. Lovely walking area that shouldn't put much stress on Old Fella's joints, and some nice slopes to tire out Suzie. Each evening, there were bluegrass jams all over the campground. Anyone who could play anything just joined in. We had a marvelous time. We actually live 30 minutes from this cg and have stayed there on occasion. It's a nice cg- as long as it does not rain! When it rains, it is difficult to get in/out and around the cg. The road washes out terribly and it's a mud pit! The sites are small but the cg is close enough to many of the 'attractions' Boone has to offer. We are checking out a few other cg's that are close to Boone, that others have recommended to us, and will pass along the info if interested.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard, I'm afraid you will be a little disappointed with the color (or lack of) in the Smokies. We drove over and camped last weekend- camera in hand, of course.:B We took the bypass up and around Gatlinburg and went into Elkmont and Cades Cove and saw very little color. It has been so warm that there haven't been any good, hard frosts yet. And as dry as it is, you will probably get to see the bears in the picnic areas!! They are very hungry and thirsty this yr! Many riverbeds, waterfalls and creeks are dry. (they are my favorite things to take photos of :( ) Either way, it's still a beautiful park! (And yes, the traffic was horrible- as usual this time of yr!) Hope you all have a nice, relaxing trip. Travel safe! I'm more of the feline persuasion, but how could you give that darlin' little thing away??!! One look at that little face and I'd cave!:R :S I'd say she's already 'adopted' ya'll!!
