DougStationary camper roof repair advice...A little bit of information before asking my question... I purchased an older 30' pull behind camper to be used as a "hunting/weekend cabin". The camper will eventually (hopefully in the next 1-2 yrs) have a permanent cover/carport with either asphalt shingle or tin roofing. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do what I want/need to do this year. lol I bought it fully aware that it had a water leak. I have no problem with the skills to repair the leak, but would like to hear opinions of roofing materials. My thought was to simply seal the area leaking knowign that a more permanent roof will be on it's way soon. Thoughts/opinions and what do you base your thought/opinion on???? The camper is partially gutted now and will be stripped down and reconfigured to a more user friendly floorplan based on our needs. DougRe: Winterizing Question JoshuaH wrote: Thanks. We like to camp off grid in the winter, after pricing RV antifreeze I got to thinking I'm going to be spending a lot of money each time we go, would save some money to just blow out the lines. You'll still want to have RV anti-frz on hand to pour in your drains each time you return. In my opinion, a couple of dollars of anti-frz down the drains is cheap insurance against p-traps and black and/or grey tanks cracking due to water freezing in them. DougRe: Road trip from So Missouri to Mackinac IslandHow will you be heading north? If you are planning on the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan (which I would suggest), you should make it a point to visit Door Co. It's a quaint peninsula that juts out into Lake MI just south of Green Bay. If you continue northward in WI, I would recommend hitting Pictured Rock SP from a late afternoon cruise on your way to Mackinac Island. If you're going the MI side of Lake MI, make sure you hit St Joseph, Holland, or South Haven (or all three). As others have said, if you like Christmas you need to stop in Bronner's in Frankenmuth, and Henry Ford near Detroit is a must do if you're within 100 miles. Not sure what your tastes are, but the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland OH, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame is in Canton, OH. Hopefully that will give you some ideas that you like. DougRe: Door Steps Won't Come InHave someone operate the door while you are listening to the switch underneath the step. If it clicks, it is the motor. tap the motor with a hammer while they continue to operate the door. if no click, check the switch or the controller. DougRe: Steps are stuck fully retracted.NOT a permanent fix, but open the door with the switch turned on and tap on the motor with a small hammer. Hopefully it will free up the motor at least temporarily. DougRe: Looking for new adventures...A few ideas for you... Elephant Rocks State Park, MO; Johnson Shut-ins, MO; Land Between the Lakes, KY; Shawnee National Forest, IL; Sam A Baker State Park, MO; and then you always have Lake of the Ozarks. Actually about any state park in MO that we have visited, we've enjoyed. Doug edit - sorry, the only one of these that have drive-thru wildlife would be LBL.Re: Maine VacationI'm sure Acadia National Park is on your itinerary, but plan on a couple of days if you really want to see the park. Bike riding was fun on the carriage roads. DougRe: Laundry moneyWhen we are headed out on vacation, I grab an old Rx bottle and a roll of quarters from the bank. I throw the quarters in the prescription bottle and call it good. (you can see the amount of quarters you have left, also) DougRe: NEW MOVIE "The Leisure Seekers" Movie TrailerThanks for sharing. It looks like a great date night movie. Doug
