We'll be incorporating all this info into our planning. Good travels all! Jerry and DianaSavannah up the east coast to CT.We are planning a month-plus trip this fall from our home in Houston, over to Savannah and up the east coast. Looking for suggestions for the east coast portion....good routes, full service RV parks and "don't miss" things to experience along the coast or inland. We pull a 37' Cougar fiver (13.5' tall) so also mindful of low clearances along the way. Any suggestions would be welcome. ThanksRe: Leveling at camp siteThanks for all sharing of your experience and thoughts on this subject. I'll be propping both axles right out of the gate and always. Thanks for your contributions. JerryLeveling at camp siteQuestion: When we had our dual axle TT, I would use Lynx blocks under just one axle to level side-to-side. We're moving to a FW now, and with the additional weight I'm wondering if it's better to use blocks under both axles, or is using them under just one OK? I'm interested in your practices. Thanks.Re: I Think We Made A Mistake - Advice on ThisThis past October we lost our first travel trailer to an arson fire. We just inked a deal on a new Cougar High Country 327 RES after a pretty exhaustive search in that class fifth wheel. The pros/cons lists lead us to decide on this one. We pick it up in a couple of weeks. Although we've not traveled with it yet, we're looking forward to it. I think you're looking at a very nice, capable unit with lots of space, inside and out. Hope it works for you....and us! Good luck.Re: Inked a deal on new 5er, now looking for a good hitchThanks all, for your comments. Now looking at the PullRite 15K SuperGlide. I thought the research ended with the decision on the fifth wheel, an now realizing it has only begun with the decision on the hitch. This is wearing me out, but determined to get a good combination of hitch/truck/fifth wheel. So, I'm now looking at the PullRite 15K with standard industry rails. I like the "automatic" feature of it vs. manual. Any others out there who would like to voice their opinions? I appreciate any and all. This forum is great for getting real-life experiences for a fifth wheel newbie to make intelligent decisions!Inked a deal on new 5er, now looking for a good hitchWe just committed to the purchase of a new Cougar 327 RES FW. We'll be pulling it with a 2012 Ram 2500 diesel 4X4 with a Crew Cab. Now, the next decision is the hitch. Looking at a Reese R16 sliding hitch. We ordered the Cougar with a MOR/ryde pin box. I'm now thinking that we may not need that, given that the R16 has some road-dampening technology built into it. My first question is...is there anyone out there who has the R16 without the MOR/ryde, and are you happy with it? My second question is...should I go ahead with this hitch, cancel the MOR/ryde and see how it goes, with the option of adding the MOR/Ryde if necessary?Jayco Eagle 33.5 RETS vs. Cougar High Country 327RESAfter a lot of research, we've boiled it down to these two choices for a new FW. Our TV is a 2012 Ram 2500 Crew Cab diesel with a 3.73 rear axle. We generally like both floor plans. The Eagle takes the edge with their night stand next to the bed (my DW uses a C-PAP machine) and the linen closet in the BR. Also we like the longer awning in the Eagle and the 2 yr. warranty. The Cougar takes the edge with their adjustable, expandable table and lower mounted microwave and fridge. Also, the Cougar has a lower hitch weight, despite the almost identical GVWR's. We also find the exterior of the Cougar HC more appealing. I would love to hear from owners of these two units as to your experiences with them, both good and bad. Thanks in advance for your input. We're close to pulling the trigger.Heritage Glen 327 RESWe are looking to moving to a fifth wheel to replace our Outback 316 RL TT which was destroyed in a fire. TV is a 2012 Ram 2500 Laramie Diesel 4X4. Seriously looking at a Heritage Glen 327 RES. We like the floor plan very much. I would like to hear from anyone out there who has this FW, or anyone who has experience with the Forest River products as to your experience with this manufacturer, both pro and con. Thanks in advance.Re: FW limitations for my Ram 2500First off, thanks for all the responses to my post. I guess I'm being a little too anal about this, but never having towed a FW I was trying to do what I thought was the "right thing". I appreciate your suggestions re: air bags/additional springs. I'll look into that and looks like I'm back in the market for a FW. Thanks!
