In the winter I took everything out and stored it away from my home. After using mothballs in another rig I found that I detested the smell of moth balls so gave that up. I began using a bucket trap in the rig and this worked for killing them but not for keeping them out. I however never got anymore nests inside. I guess they were killed before they could set up housekeeping. They are disgusting and I now believe that the only good mouse is a dead one.Re: Heat Shield Fell OffOn my Storm it was really thin like 1/32”. I thought about welding it but it was too thin for my arc welder. I ended up never replacing it. I would probably just go to a welding shop and have them replace it with something thicker. I believe it was so thin that it wobbled to the point that welds flexed off.Re: Importing from CanadaWhat ended up happening was that the dealer said that I can't pick it up and tow it over the border. He would need to deliver it to Port Huron (nearest town to Canada for me). It wasn't a huge deal unfortunately between the exchange rate and the delivery charge and essentially the final price we decided to look closer to home. I think we may have found something in Indiana.Re: Importing from Canada John & Angela wrote: + There will be no duties if it is built in North America die to the NAFTA agreement. + If it is delivered across the boarder by a THIRD PARTY AGENT...NOT THE DEALER then there will be no federal or provincial taxes. + The NAFTA agreement will probably be nullified in the near future so there will be duties on products going north and south soon after. Might want to do it sooner than later if this is the route you go. Good luck, safe travels. John This is what I'm thinking as well.Re: Importing from CanadaThanks for all of the replies. The Dealer is Sicard RV in Smithville Ontario. I haven't had the opportunity to call yet. I suppose I'll talk to them then call the customs on both sides just to confirm what the dealer says. I don't even know the actual out the door price yet. This is more about not wanting to go to Georgia and have to tow it all the way home if I don't need to. We'll see.Re: Importing from CanadaThanks. I intend to do this. Just looking for some real world experiences before I move forward.Importing from CanadaWe finally identified the travel trailer we want. The problem is that we want a 2016 or 2017 model and no local dealers have one and want to sell us a 2018 model. I found 2 however one is 12 hours away and the other is 4 hours away but in Canada. I live in Michigan. Does anyone have any experience buying a towable in Canada? From my reading it seems that an individual can buy one for personal use and not have to pay Duty. However I don't know the hidden fees or what the trade status is with this administration. Does anyone have experience with this?Re: From 5er to class A, why?If you're considering a DP this may not apply. I've had 2-C's and one A. My wife's complaint was always the incredible amount of noise especially with the Ford V10. Crossing mountains was like sitting on a jet engine. The squeaks and rattles were another common complaint. Maybe a more expensive DP wouldn't suffer from these.Re: No RV and I'm going crazyThanks. I'll keep looking.Re: No RV and I'm going crazyThanks all for replying. Ron what were the biggest offenders for noise that you found? Does a slide add to the noise? I haven't had a Chevy powered RV since 1990. Caught fire on a trip North thanks to red squirrels. Good to see that they're getting back into powering RV's. Maybe ear plugs for the wife is a cheaper alternative.
