I like mine connected, while in storage, mainly to keep batteries up; though I have managed a couple months of non-use by disconnecting batteries.

Who has the statistics on the failure rate of properly maintained 6 year old tires compared to new?

We chose I40 a couple years ago for that route. Considered 441 but did not do it for the reason of twisty roads. We may do it at some point.I40 is no "piece od cake" driving. Lots of grades and curves.
