But, it’s not in the cards……we’re under a “winter storm watch”, and very overcast! Pretty bummed…..but we’re getting some very much needed moisture! I hope that yourself and others have a great viewing! memtbRe: If it's not one, it's another jdc1 wrote: memtb wrote: jdc 1, We should write a book together! That sounds like some of our trips over the last 30 or so years! The bright side....it keeps life interesting! :) memtb That it does. I've repaired everything, even stuff I didn't know was screwed up until I got home. Boy, I'm glad I can do this stuff, or I might be living in this trailer (5th wheel) because I would be broke if I had to pay RV repairman prices. Yeah. I get sore getting up and down, crawling under and over, contorting my body like a hula dancer....but.....That soreness goes away in a few days, Some of my more interesting repairs involve weather extremes! Replacing an igniter rod on the refrigerator in blowing snow with temps in the teens on a 3 week boondocking trip, replacing a complete hub/brake backing plate assembly and “dressing” the slightly damaged axle stub with a file in single digit temps (though it was sunny) in a rv park in Evanston, Wy., to replacing a broken spring pack, in an asphalt parking lot..... August in Mesa Arizona. There’s plenty more ......but, you get the picture! :B memtbRe: If it's not one, it's anotherjdc 1, We should write a book together! We like the trailer to be very cold at night -- great sleeping weather. A down comforter and four blankets -- so heavy that we are forced to hibernate. We don't run the heater, except during shower time. We figure that if the Eskimos can survive comfortably in igloos, we will be ok if we dress warmly -- knit caps, several layers of clothing, thermal booties, etc. But this is all a matter of personal preference. And I would bet that if we lived in a snowy climate (instead of Southern California), we would not find cold weather to be such a pleasant change! The high temp at my house today (Feb 28) was 83. Dry and sunny, as it always is. Dull. We love your attitude about cool rooms! We keep our cool weather (fall, winter, spring) bedroom temps in the upper ‘50’s at home....it does make for good sleeping conditions! We always enjoy your photos and stories....”keep on keeping on”! memtbRe: Trip report: Yosemite in the SnowThanks!! Great photos. It’s not often to get photos of cats....pretty reclusive! Forty degrees in the camper....and I thought that we kept ours a bit cool! What were the night time lows? memtbRe: U.S. Forest Service closuresI saw nothing wrong with the quality of journalism, unique but not bad! Perhaps it was the message that was not well received! It seems that all of us can reach our own and perhaps differing interpretation of the articles intent! memtbRe: Feedback on SolitudeWe’ve had 3 Teton’s with a dish washer, and have never used them..... even once.! Presently, ours is used for cutting boards, large lids, and a few other things impracticable for shelf storage! ?? However, we are rarely connected to water.....maybe, if we did more campgrounds we’d actually use it for washing dishes! :B Hope that you enjoy your Solitude, and perhaps......actually get some “solitude” when rv’ing! ;) memtbRe: New Tires On The RVCummins12V98, I didn’t realize that your Mobile Suites is only a two axle unit. With the weight that you have I can certainly understand going with the best.....and I think these may be the best. We went with those on our triple axle, which may have been overkill as we don’t put a lot of miles on our unit. The tires will “age out” long before they wear out. As much as I love them, will be replacing with a lesser tire! memtbRe: New Tires On The RVThose are the exact tires that I put on our 5er about 5 years ago! memtbRe: Looking for older High Quality Luxury 5th WheelQuite true! The “good” teacher part may be questionable! ;) memtb
