But I am puzzled. If the camper is plugged into shore power, the batteries should stay topped up, suggesting a charging problem. Check for a blown fuse in the power management box, or a breaker in the wrong position. Likely something simple, but not necessarily easy to find.Re: SUCCESS removing frozen lock nuts on HappiJac turnbucklesIf you are referring to the spring-loaded cylinders, the HappiJacs have been on my camper for ~14 years and they are rusty. they get removed only once or twice each year. A couple squirts of PB Blaster over a couple days, and then a pair of 3/4 open end wrenches placed closely together so you can grab them and 'make a fist' has always freed the top nut for me. Once loose, I've also chased the threads with a die and greased the threads on assembly.Hehr sliding window latch replacement? The latches on the two sliding side windows of my Outfitter Apex no longer latch. These are Hehr windows, and the latch is possibly "HH-1". I've looked at the Hehr site, this forum, and elsewhere, and it seems to say just unscrew and replace. Sounds easy. I've tried to unscrew the screw from the inside, and it just spins, does not back itself out. Is there some trick or tool that allows you to get in behind the screw, in between the front and rear panes of glass, and hold the grommet, or otherwise remove the old latch? Thanks for the help. TM...Re: Small Window AC vs Roof Top AirWhen I had the roof of my Outfitter replaced I chose to NOT have a roof AC put on. It would have added 100 lbs to the lift, and if you ever haul anything on the roof, the roof AC is constantly in the way and a tripping hazard.Re: How is the "new" Outfitter Mfg doing? My mistake. Since I didn't know of the sale of the company, I assumed the poster was referring to the post-financial-meltdown of 2008. A lot of folks were in trouble back then. The Outfitter web site still looks the same. I hope someone who lives closer to them than my 2,000 miles will keep us up to date on Outfitter.Re: How is the "new" Outfitter Mfg doing? In November 2018 I drove to the factory at Longmont and had them put a new roof on my Apex 9.5. That experience went fine, completed in 2 1/2 days, and I was on the road home. There must have been a dozen campers on the lot ready for pick-up, so someone is ordering them. During my short stay there I saw only 5 guys, so a small company.Re: Regular cab under Outfitter Apex 9.5? GeoBoy wrote: Are you looking to buy a new truck or a newer used truck? I've been on the net looking at used trucks, but having trouble finding one I want to buy. Very likely I will order a new one.Re: Regular cab under Outfitter Apex 9.5?A great set of replies! THanks to all. Those photos are perfect. TM..Regular cab under Outfitter Apex 9.5?The frame under my 2006 GMC 2500 HD diesel 4x4, extended cab (2 doors) has rusted so badly that it cannot be repaired, so I have begun looking for a replacement. The bumper to bumper length of my truck is 20' 10", and with the Outfitter Apex 9.5 on it, 2 more feet. Extended cabs such as I have now are no longer made, the most popular trucks being the 4 door models which are a foot longer. The truck I have now is a problem in tight parking lots and my garage, so I really don't want something longer. When I showed the salesman a photo of my present rig and told him I wanted a regular cab truck he said 'bad idea', as the overhang of the camper would obstruct vision. Although it is not possible for me to take an accurate measurement, my guess is that from the inside rear edge of the truck box, the camper overhang will be 70 inches. So is an Outfitter Apex 9.5 on a regular cab pickup a problem? I doubt it, but if you agree with the salesman, I would appreciate your comments if you have experience with this. Thanks.Re: Truck Camper Mileage (Question Answered)Everything was in the truck & camper that I usually carry, including water. The big diesel engine plus transfer case is a lot of weight in front. Total weight is real close to 5 tons.
