All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Highway Shootings PrecautionsHi from Scottsdale. . . interesting, only one comment from PHX, & he thinks the traffic here is the worst he's ever seen ? Clearly never driven in Atlanta or L A ! anyway, nobody arrested yet, except for 3 teens who are admitted copy cats. (with rocks & a slingshot) Also no one injured, which seems real odd, like maybe somebody is trying to make police look bad ? TV psychologists are arguing over profile here daily. Reward is up over $20k. . . Most people are trying to avoid section of I-10, mostly through central Phoenix. Hope they catch them soon, Regards, CraigRe: RV Park Recommendations Near Denalihi from AZ. . . we stayed in Cantwell, which is a very nice park, but is a 54 mile round trip to Denali. We also stayed at Denali Grizzly Bear RV park, which is not pretty, not particularly clean, but 5 or 6 miles From the NP. agree that Riley Creek is the best alternative. nice campground, some green screening from your neighbors, and well looked after. No hookups are manageable for a few days. Regards, CraigRe: Roll Call Alaska 2015Hi from AZ. . . well we're home from the North Country (only 109 here today) and had a great trip. We only saw one North to Alaska 2015 sign (a class A from ALA) 14,429 miles on tv, 11,414 on tt. I have to say the roads in AK are as bad as advertised, maybe worse. The construction zones got tiresome, and the price of almost everything was really high. We did however have a great time. The TOW hwy was one of our favorite drives (twice, going & coming) Dawson City was fun. We enjoyed Haines, Seward, Denali, the Riverboat Discovery in Fairbanks, not so much Anchorage, Chicken, Homer, Valdez. Lots of wildlife when we 1st got up that way in June, almost none coming back in Aug. Some minor interior damage to tt, nothing serious, one blown Michelin and knocked loose exhaust on tv. Met some nice people along the way. Start planning next adventure soon. . . regards, CraigI-15 thru UtahHi from AZ. . . we opted for the 'quick' way home from Calgary to PHX. & while the drive thru Montana & Idaho was scenic & no problem, I-15 past that Salt Lake area was NOT FUN ! Almost a hundred miles, from Brigham City to Provo of urban traffic. I mean, stop & go & bumper to bumper on SATURDAY afternoon. I can only imagine what a week day must be like ! Construction as well made that trip an absolute 'Never Again' ! We went North on US 93 thru the 'middle of nowhere' NV, and will always use that route in the future. . . .regards, CraigRe: Top of World HighwayHi from AZ. . . we did TOW twice with 28 ft tt, and loved it. . From Dawson to Tok was very dusty, going back we encountered quite a bit of rain. a lot more traffic in July than a month earlier. Chicken was way overrated. Dawson is fun. . . regards, CraigRe: Routes North from Santa Rosa NMHi from AZ. . . I have also driven NM 104 from Las Vegas to Tucumcari, very interesting drive. Gas up 1st though, not many services. . . regards, CraigRe: Calgary to Grand Canyon - what not to miss on the way?Hi from AZ. . . yes, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder ! We SO prefer the North Rim of GCNP. It's higher, cooler, wilder, & WAY less crowded. It's said that 9 out every 10 visitors go to the South Rim. The South Rim has more buses full of tourists, more t-shirt shops & more snack bars. There are several places to see the Canyon either way, and. . . it's the same canyon. It's farther from, say Phoenix, because you have to go around the canyon, but from Page or Utah, closer. We love that place. regards, CraigRe: Roll Call Alaska 2015Hi from AZ. . . I'm a little reluctant to carry a LOT of cash, so wondering about the availability of ATM's going thru Canada. Around AZ, they're in every convenience store, grocery store, etc. My bank doesn't charge me, but the other bank probably will add some small fee. Any thoughts from folks who know ? Thanks, CraigRe: Grand Canyon RailwayHi from AZ. . . We did a package deal & thoroughly enjoyed it. Parked the tt at the campground, parked the inlaws in the hotel, ate several meals on the property. We went up one morning, overnighted at a lodge in the park & had all afternoon & the next day till 2:30 to 'do' the South Rim. They did a good job with making it all work. Stayed an extra day to explore Williams & it's Route 66 kitsch, good time ! regards, CraigRe: L.E.D Replacement light bulbsHi from AZ. . . I too used M4LED for my light replacements. No problems, no failures, no hassles. Very knowledgeable folks. I have some daylight, some warm, worked for us Regards, Craig
