Biggest selling point they seem to be pushing is the claimed 5000lb towing capacity. Is this believable? Just a quick search of the web finds several small TT's that weigh in at around 3900lbs. Could this rig safely pull one? Or am I missing some big piece of this puzzle?Re: Cleaning your awningI like the roll it up idea. I will give that a try!! Thanks again.Cleaning your awningWhen I opened my awning for the first time this season, I was a bit shocked at how dirty it looks. I often stay under pine trees, they drop sap everywhere. When you roll up your awning this sap just spreads all over both sides of the cloth. Dead bugs stick to it, its just a mess. I have tried a commercial "Awning cleaner" I purchased at Camping World. Doesn't even touch it. Anybody have a favorite product, or better yet a home brew cleaner that will actually work?Re: Not sure of the logicWow some folks do tend to get kind of excited about things don't they? I am not mad at this campground. We have stayed there many times and it is one of our favorite places. We are hoping to get a site next month for a trip. Since we are familiar with this campground the things I know are. All site carry the same price, all sites are layed out the same as to utilities. They do have a group of sites that are dedicated for groups but he did not mention these. I do plan on asking them why we were turned down when/if we get a reservation for next month. It is the only RV park in this little town. We normally see everything from Truck Campers to TT and 5th wheels up to mega class A tour busses there. Its a great place, I think the poor guy on the phone was a little stressed out when I called. Who knows. Not sure of the logicA few weeks ago we decided to take a weekend trip to one of our favorite RV spots. We called a week in advance which in the past had been more than adequate. I guess other people have caught on how nice this place is. We were told they were full. Here's the part I don't understand. The guy on the phone asked me what kind of rig I had. Told him a TT. He said the only site they had available was for a MH..... Why would it matter if I have a TT or a MH? Do you have a site available? Yes, then rent it to me.Re: Winchester Bay RV Resort, Oregon Mr. Camper wrote: mikeflys wrote: We just returned from a 3 night stay in this resort. It was a fantastic experience. The park itself is in the marina at Winchester Bay Oregon. This little town is geared for 2 things, fishing and ATV riding. Winchester bay is in the mouth of the Umpqua river, so you have freshwater fishing on the river or of course the Pacific Ocean is right there. The town is also right in the middle of the Oregon Sand dune system. What I found really interesting was that most everyone there was fishing or riding ATV's in the sand dunes, the beaches were nearly empty. One of the days we went down we had the beach to ourselves. It was great! As for the RV park. Paved very level sites. All pull through with the exception of the ones with waterfront views. Good Cable and actually usable WiFi. Not perfect WiFi but usable. Extremely clean, we did not use the laundry or the rest rooms but judging from the rest of the park I would have to guess they were clean. Each site has a pick-nick table and a fire ring, Wood is available for 5 bucks a bundle. Fantastic views, from the forest to the sand dunes to the river and the ocean. Surprisingly quiet. I would have assumed with all the ATV's around that it would be noisy, but the town segregates the ATV to the entrance of the sand dune area. They are not buzzing through the town. Has its own dock just for crabbing The town itself is a quaint little fishing town. More bait/tackle and ATV shops than restaurants and gift shops. A very extensive marina for those with boats. Several charter boats available for fishing in either the river or out on the ocean. And besides the RV resort at least 2 other state park camping areas. These seemed mostly for the ATV riders as they both opened up right into the sand dunes. If you are into the gift shop kind of thing (my wife and I are) ½ hour north is Florence Or with a really nice old town area for gifts and antiques. Also ½ hour to the south is North Bend and Coos Bay. If I had to come up with a negative for this whole experience, none of the beaches had free parking..... So to sum this all up, will I be going back? You bet! It will be a few years, still tons of Oregon coastline to explore before we start repeating much. And next time I go I want it to be after I have got my hands on a boat. Boat owners and ATV riders you really need to check this place out. You will not be sorry!! Did you think to post this in RV Park Reviews? More people will see it. Yes I did!Winchester Bay RV Resort, OregonWe just returned from a 3 night stay in this resort. It was a fantastic experience. Maybe its a regional thing but I can only think of 1 RV park I have stayed at that had a policy against these fences. And it was just to keep dogs from barking.Re: First RV purchase and need Bathroom Advice bob213 wrote: We have the corner triangle shaped shower with a shower door. Add an oxygenics shower head and a good pressure regulator and it's the best shower you'll find in a TT. I don't like to dump on someone else's toilet, sleep in someone else's bed or shower in someone else's shower. That's why we have a TT and don't stay in hotels. I fully agree with you on all points. I have been reading that one of the current trends in Hotel stays is to leave a post it note in the bedding as a warning to the next "guest" saying "if you find this note, maintenance did not change the sheets"! I really want to deal with that! The oxygenics shower heads are great as well. One of the best upgrades you can put in you RV.Re: First RV purchase and need Bathroom AdviceOne of the reasons we started in RV'ing was having our own bathroom. My wife and I both HATE public showers and toilets. Whenever we are out and watch someone leaving a 100K motorhome with a towel draped around their neck we just shake our heads in wonder. Our 1st RV was a Jayco tent trailer, it had a shower and all 4 of us used it every night. As the kids grew we had a Class C but now that it is just the 2 of us we have a 24' Dutchman TT. One of the big selling points for us was the large (for a 24 footer) bathroom and shower. More bathroom/shower space than our class C had, plus bigger holding tanks! If I never see a public rest room again I will be a happy man.
