I'm going to get ying on one hand or yang on the other by sales people. Oldfordman It's 200hrs not 2000hrs. And I agree with you. Oh yes, I've always been intrigued by some sales people talking twice as much as they listen. I wish that they would do the reverse, listen twice as much (2 ears) and talk half the time (1 mouth). Roger;)Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Professor95 I’ve been away from this site for about 2 years. During that time I’ve purchased a Chinese Genset, put 200hrs of usage and had no problems. The other day a seller of Japanese Genset told a friend that his units were superior to other similar manufacturers of Japanese Genset. He used the following argument: that his units had a higher Max Peak Wattage versus Rated Wattage. He said that his units were better suited for RV AC units and other motors that have a high initial wattage demand on start-up. I have to admit that I did not expect this approach. He also mentioned that they had back up data on these facts which of course he could not produce. My questions are: Does the his comments make any sense? Why or why not? In other words, could there be such differences between Max versus Rated? If so, how and if not, why? Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks Roger:)Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.sanman I don't understand why there would be a difference in term of rewiring between CSA or URL to get 120V, ± on 25 amps , maybe you could explain. The wiring diagram would be great if some one has it for the unit. Also from what I understand one cannot get 25 amps on one of the existing duplex 120V outlets because it is distributed on the two (2) duplex outlets. Leaving for 4 days, will be back on Monday. Thanks RogerRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.professsor95 I just got back from Costco in Montreal and found the Champion genset available for 399.00$ CDN. "Very good price" The unit is C46535 CSA 2800W (4000W Peak) at http://www.cpeauto.com/de2800_gen.htm If I remember, there was a discussion on this unit this summer. There are 2 X 20 amps 120V outlets on the front. Question: Are there any problems getting (2800/120 = 23.3 amps) from one of the two outlets using a 15/30amps adapter? I guest my real question is, can I get 23.3amps from one outlet? Are there any modifications that have to be done to the wiring of this unit to get 23.3 Amps from one outlet? ThanksRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Ctrl-Z You will find the Costco unit at Champion # C46535CSA C=Canadian, CSA=Canadian Standard Association http://www.cpeauto.com/de2800_gen.htm RogerRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.professor95 Thanks for your infoRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Costco Canada in Montreal, is selling a portable 2800W genset by Champion. Does any one know something about this unit? It has wheels. I've not found this unit at Champion. Oh yes, the unit cost is 400.00 CDN$, which is good. :? Au revoirRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Professor95 When I use to work in commercial sound systems our technicians would sometimes test new amplifiers with a specific load using a series of resistors. This was to find if the transformer (excessive heating) or other pieces of the unit would stand up. Question, can such a load be put on 120V output of my generator? What would be the size of the resistors? And how would they be straps together. Oh yes, I hope that I'm on the right track. Correct me if I'm wrong. ThanksRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Dubman You may find these two Quebec sites insteresting, they are in French (ils sont en français). http://www.campingquebec.com/phpBB2/ http://www.campingquebec.com/phpBB2/ RogerRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. Thanks to both of you.:) In French: TT= Caravane or Roulotte (Caravan is also used un the UK instead of trailer) TV=Véhicule de Remorquage or Véhicule Tracteur À la prochaine. :W
