All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Americans Returning to Baja as Crime DipsAs a kid, 60 years ago, my parents would take me down there form So. Cal. for fun and sun. As an adult I have always been amazed at citizens of the United States going to Mexico for any reason. If allowed, I'm sure that every Mexican citizen would leave Mexico for good for the U.S., well maybe 10 - 12 would stay but they would be equally as crazy as the U.S. citizen who go to Mexico for any reason. Mexico is a grand s--t hole.Re: 2014 GeorgetownTo Mike and Trish, and LinDens: Obviously when you are taking about a 2014 Georgetown your price point is about a hundred grand. I didn't intent to insult your intelligence, but it doesn't take five years of studying calculus to figure it out. Maybe it is too complicated and I just don't see it? Sorry if that's the case.Re: 2014 GeorgetownOkay, the Georgetown is a good looking motor home especially for the money. With that said, don't you really need to consider the ability of the MH to withstand considerable variations in weather? I would think you need something really well insulated with double or triple windows, I'm sure the Georgetown's price point is not going to meet your needs in that regard. If you read some of the posts during the winter, there are lots of folks freezing their whatever off and asking how they can over come it. Silly people. With your price point shouldn't you look at a really good trailer?Re: How Many Miles per Year?I've heard that the average usage is less than 1,500 miles per year. When I purchased my MH it was 5 years old and had 4,600 miles on it. I have averaged 7,500 miles, on an annual basis. I'm sure that my 7,500 miles and all the other responders to the question so far are anecdotal evidence that a MH is a great vacation tool and will be well worth the purchase price, because we will use it a lot! - NOT! A MH is a big waist of money, but I either waist it having fun or give it to my children to waist. They will get their far share to waist, a couple hundred won't make much of a difference. That's my rationalization. Does that qualify as a rant? Sorry.Re: Do house or chassis batteries start the generator?Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule but my generator starts off the house batteries. When the fuel level is below 1/4 the generator will not run, it may start but will not run, it's a safety feature. The battery switch works in one direction, the house batteries help the chassis batteries if necessary, it doesn't work the other way around.Re: Who do you use for Insurance?I have no idea where Bridgeville is and I suppose you want to keep it a secret so I won't ask. It's important to know what state you live in. We live in California and have AAA for two homes, three cars, two boats, motor home, plus towing service, but they wouldn't take my airplane? I have had a couple of claims over the years, one for car (son) and one for home (water leak), and they made everything work out well. I prefer to work with one company, and obviously there is a discount when you do so. When I initially switched over their pricing was very competitive.Re: Purchasing from Out of State & Warranty WorkI think there are TWO answers to your question: If you buy NEW then your warranty should work in any state that has the same manufacture distributor. On the other hand, if you buy USED, as I did out of state and you have problems then you are going to have a serious problem (and for those of you that say I should have had it inspected, well I did and made a list of things to be fixed, which they didn't do, and later told me I purchased it "as is". stay away for the RV Corral of Eugene OR).Re: Cast your vote for the WORST customer serviceThe RV Corral of Eugene OR has got to be the worst. Purchased a used motor home that need alignment badly, they did one. Left the lot and it still pulled, they said they did one and that's it. Took it to a Freightliner station who had to cut the rear, align and re-weld (they felt it came from the factory that way). The RV Corral of Eugene OR thinks going down the hwy sideways is perfectly the way to drive a vehicle (there were other problems that they think are normal too).
