I just changed ours out for the same reason---plus it it was 10 yrs oldRe: TC + extended hitchbkenobi, If you do opt to use the TL hitch, and want to use an extension in the future, you would want to get the hitch for nuse with the tie downs that utilize the tie down extension with the hitch, rather than frame work brackets. As far as the TL hitch/tiedown/extension--TL is second to none! There is a short vidieo or picture out there somewhere of a truck and camper that got into a roll over situation, and the truck camper remained tied to the truck. While we consider price versus build, I beleive you get what you pay for, and not an enthusiast of risk management building. Always better to overbuild, than underbuild. TL tests there equipment that they sell, and recently were able to uprate their magnum hitch to 30K tow rating through DOT testing. Call them and ask.Re: Front receiverBodiak is alive and well, I purchased mine from them a while back and carry my spare tire (dually) on it, plus it helps with launching the boat without removing the camper. Best way to get them is through e-mail. I may have spoke too soon, their website is "down for maint"Re: Rough ride with Timbrens and Rancho 9000xls dakonthemountain wrote: So I thought it would be a good idea to put Timbrens on my truck. The Lance 1055 camper is tall and a bit top heavy. It didn't ride bad or sway badly, but I thought that this would help for stability. And they do! No sway or roll, however now it seems the truck rides like a washboard over the smallest bumps like it never did before. Is this overkill? Should I readjust the rancho shocks to a lower number? I have them on nine before the Timbrens and did not change the setting. Have any of you experienced this issue? The freeways through Pasadena and Glendale were shear torture for the first time ever! The bouncing and jarring over the smallest bumps in the road has become really annoying. Thanks for any help or insight you can provide. Dak Yes, adjust the 9000's down, if they are as rigid as you say they are, you could, over time, do damage. Shocks are there to arrest movement, not stop it, might try starting in the middle, drive around town, then readjust and try it again. Let the timbrens do the work.Re: Newbie question about plugging in at the houseIf you are plugged into a 20 amp, 110v service. You can use everything but the a/c. You would also want to watch how much you had on at any given time, but it should run fine.Re: Wolf Creek Maiden VoyageTim , If you don't already have it, Helwig "BigWig" anti roll bar. It will let your knuckles remain normal during those high wind encounters.Re: truck camper 101Check out the Torklift site for equipment, and some of the prices associated with outfitting your TC, like glo steps, and tie down etc, etcRe: charging system problem djg wrote: I guess I will have to start pulling stuff apart because I definitely have power charging at the end of the plug that plugs into the TC, it's charging the same as at the battery so at least I've narrowed it down to inside the TC back out to check. Dave When you checked for 12+ at the 7 pin, did you check the 12- at the cord, or to a chassis item---like the bumper of the truck? It is alo possible you lost the ground-----but if this is the case, the running lights won't work.Re: charging system problemI'dcheck all the fuses in the camper and dig into the wiring on the back side of the plug inside the camper, see if the problem lies there. Wouldn't be surprised if you lost a fuse.
