They do a great job.Windjammer Rain Forest — HELP, Please!I have never experienced this before in the few years I have owned my windjammer, or any other travel trailer for that matter. For the last five days, we have been camping with relentless rain, The outside temperature has been fairly consistent at around 68 degrees to 73 degrees, day and night, and the outside humidity has remained at 97% humidity or higher for the entire time — my hygrometer for outside will only register a maximum of 97% and that is where it has stayed for the entire five days. To keep the humidity inside of my camper to less than 60%, I have had to run the A/C, so I keep it at about 68 degrees so it will run to bring the humidity level down. This is cooler than I like, but it is the only thing I can do to bring down the humidity to a livable level. If I use my MaxAir fan, the humidity inside shoots up, so I have quit using that unless we are showering or using the bathroom. What I am seeing is condensation collecting and dripping from all of the A/C registers, around and on the A/C unit and on the ceiling where the ducts are carved through the styrofoam — the closer to the A/C unit the ducts are, the more I see the condensation. What makes this happen and what can I do to combat it? I don’t think a dehumidifier is the answer because they generate so much heat, it will make the inside of the camper uncomfortably warm. I am afraid if I let this go on much longer, I will be dealing with mold or mildew in the near future. Any suggestions or solutions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BruceRe: Awning Seam Leak Repair at Cover Ka Ron wrote: Try contacting Dometic DOMETIC CONTACT US I am sure they can give you some advise. Thank you. I am going to be doing this, but from the older posts I have read, all of the awning manufacturers claim that the awning is intended for shade, not rain and that it is only water resistant, not waterproof. BruceAwning Seam Leak Repair at CoverI know this has been addressed here before, and I have read the (old) threads, but none of them really nailed down a good solution, or, maybe, people never followed up to let us know that what they did worked. I have a Dometic awning with the metal protective cover, and where the cover attaches to the fabric, about 10 inches from the wall, there is a seam. For the first two years there was no problem with rain water getting through the seam, but now, there are several places where the water will come through quite freely. I have always been able to see a little sunlight through the entire length of this seam and wondered why it didn't leak. I used to be able to put stuff up against my camper to keep it dry when it rained, but no more. Has anybody found a solution to this problem recently? Things like the time I backed my truck into my fully open awning and tore an arm off.. Many times forgetting to remove the chocks and yanking my TT over them. Blindsiding the TT into a narrow driveway in the pouring rain and a stupid ignorant power pole leapt out from the side and viciously attacked the back corner of my TT, leaving a big crunch in the side. Jackknifing the rig too far backing up and poking a ladder on top of my truck rack right through the front of the TT at the top. A full pound of butter down the heat duct once earned me the nickname here of butterboy...:B That was a classic... some of you here may remember my story on that one. Forgot to latch the hitch on my TT once. Left the site in Fort Saint John BC and hit a big heave in an intersection, bucked the trailer off the ball and it did a nosedive into the pavement right in the middle of the intersection. There I was with a piddly little bottle jack and a few blocks if wood trying to put it back on the ball. Made it as far as Cache Creek on the way back to Surrey when the TT looked funny in the mirror. Pulled over and one side of the hitch frame was broken nearly right through. Good thing for a truck full of cordless tools to do a makeshift repair to get it to a welding shop for repairs. Yeah the was a monumental blunder on my part.... Not realizing my bathroom sink drained into the black tank not the grey, I kept pouring water down the drain into a full black tank, wondering why it was getting fuller and fuller. Stepped on the flush pedal to have a look down the hole, only to be greeted by a geyser of "soup" erupting like a volcano out of the toilet. Yeah that was a (unprintable) mess all over the bathroom to clean up.... ewwwwwww! :E:E Gag me with a spoon... Left the awning too level once and had it fill up with water from a sudden rain storm. In a desperate attempt to empty it with a broom the scissor arm cylinder did its job and collapsed, emptying the contents of the awning inside the TT door, flooding the place. I could go on!!! Life with Bob in the RV is NEVER boring!!! :B Through all of my time at this site, Bob has had the best stories. I read everything I see posted by him because it is never time wasted. Bob is a humble man and is not afraid to make fun of himself. I wish I could be more like him. I don't need someone to tell me when I can go through, I know the rules and I can see the traffic for myself. That is a huge pet peeve for me. It's one thing if the person is driving something that is going slower than traffic or they are going to do a u-turn, etc. But don't wave me on because you're being nice - just move your vehicle when it's your turn and i'll make it through the intersection just fine.
