All of the mineral spirits I've used leave an oily film/residue that will likely weaken the bond of the tape.Re: Frog in fresh water holding tank! NRALIFR wrote: Assuming the OP isn’t pulling our leg, she’s probably talking about a tree frog. Those dang things can crawl and hang on to any surface, vertical, horizontal, or upside down. You wouldn’t believe some of the weird-a$$’ed places I’ve found those around and in our house. I wouldn’t leave it in the tank if it was me. I’d figure out a way to use the overflow line to fill the tank up till it was flowing out the fill port and hopefully float that thing out of there. :):) That's what I'm thinking, reading the OP's post - a tree frog got in the fresh water fill spout when he left the fill cap off. They are not very big and can indeed climb almost anywhere with their suction-cup-like feet, and are fond of hiding in damp confined places during the day. I expect he would come out at night - others have already addressed how you might be able to figure out if he left or not.Re: Replacement Seals/O-rings for Portable Propane Cylinders? Thanks, Agesilaus. Like you say, I don't want to cobble this up since the risk is high. But yes, I am a big fan of the true "hardware stores" where you can buy just about any kind of oddball part you might need. Any RVer should be familiar with their closest hardware store (NOT the same as Lowes or Home Depot).Replacement Seals/O-rings for Portable Propane Cylinders?Hello, folks, I have a 30-lb. propane cylinder that has a bad gasket/O-ring that is causing a leak. This is the seal that the nose of the fitting presses into and seals against. (It is the newer OPD valve on the cylinder, with an Acme fitting on the pigtail hose). I've searched for a replacement and can only come up with replacements for fork lift systems, which I don't think are the same thing. Are these seals universal, and are they available to the average person? Safe travels! ReganRe: Rewiring Trailer Brakes - How to Allow for Axle Movement? Thanks very much, everyone. I haven't had time to replay back to all the posts yet, but there are a lot of good ideas here. And yes, the factory wire is pitifully tiny. "Myredracer" mentioned 18 gauge, and that's probably about right. The factory splices were terrible - just crimp fittings with no weather protection - so one of the first things I did to my new trailer all those years ago was to solder and seal those connections. And no, there's no way 12-2 cable will run through the holes on my axle. Good points about following the springs, countered by the likelihood of damage by blown tires... Hmmm. I'll come back to this when I have a little more time, but for now a sincere THANK YOU to all who took the time to answer. Safe travels, ReganRewiring Trailer Brakes - How to Allow for Axle Movement?Hello, folks, I am planning to rewire my travel trailer axle brakes using a 12/2 commercial brake wire such as this: https://www.nassaunationalcable.com/12-gauge-2-conductor-duplex-brake-cable.html I'm going to run a separate wire from a junction at the front of the trailer to each hub. Two axles means four hubs, so there are eight flex points in the wire (frame and axle on each wire) that will be moving constantly. I know that stranded wire is much better at handling flexion, but what else can I do at the point where the wire leaves the trailer frame to help ensure that the wire won't eventually break? Are there any "best practices" that would apply to this installation? Many thanks! ReganRe: Painting Galvanized Metal Roof?Vey good information, folks, I really appreciate the help! I know that galvanized material is problematic, and I figured someone here coud help.Re: Painting Galvanized Metal Roof? Thanks, folks, I appreciate the help. I forgot to mention that my wife wants a light blue color, not silver, which rules out the usual fibered silver "tin roof" paint. This is my house roof, not a rubber RV roof.Painting Galvanized Metal Roof?It may be slightly OT here, but it's a "Tech Issue" and I'm betting someone here can help... I put a galvanized metal (the old 5-V "tin" roof) on our farmhouse when we moved into it almost 35 years ago. I've painted it a couple times since with an alkyd enamel paint that stuck okay to the rusted parts, but sloughed quickly from the parts with zinc still on them. Now it's in dire need of painting again, but it still has some patches with zinc left on them. I'd like to paint the roof again, preferably with an epoxy or something durable, to make it last this time, even if it is expensive or time-consuming. Has anyone had any good experiences doing this, and what product(s) would you recommend? Many thanks! Regan
