All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: In search of large family BunkhouseWe have a 2014 Keystone Bullet bunkhouse trailer. It has 4 bunks in the back, a table that drops down to a bed, a couch that pulls out to a bed and a queen bed up front. Bumper to tongue it 32 feet. We use to use a 1/2 ton to pull it but we upgraded to a 1 ton. Dry weight was somewhere around 6200 and max is 7700 I think, somewhere close to that. And it has a slide out for the table and couch. We love it!Re: New truck, New trailer, TONS of sway!In 2012 we bought an F-150 V8 truck and we loved it. In 2013 we went and bought a 32 foot TT Keystone Bullet lite. The TT rating for max weight when loaded is 7600. The trucks max rating for towing was 7700. We were always worried about weight, kept the holding tanks empty etc. Not a good idea to try and get the most TT for your trucks rating and we should have gotten our F-350 first. So yeah we upgraded to a 2016 F-350 6.7L diesel. We took one trip to the Oregon coast that easily convinced us that a 1/2 ton just isn't enough truck even thought they will say it is. Good luck but no sense in having a TT your not willing to even go the 30 miles to the closest scales. By the way if I remember right our F-150 was right around 6600 pounds on the scale.Re: New tow vehicle/old hitch.. What to do?I upgraded from an F-150 to a F-350 last year. I would agree using the WDH is probably the wisest thing to do. But with a 4 inch drop down stinger my truck and trailer are fine and I do not notice any sway.Re: Storage compartment latch/locksI have been wanting to upgrade the latch/lock on my TT as well. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. They are hard to find on line, maybe because I'm not exactly sure the name/model. But I think if you go to an RV dealer and talk to them about upgrading to the latches you see on higher end TT and 5ers. Because those latches are way better than the cheap quarter turn lock your talking about. In the mean time you can try and put some graphite in but since you already tried some oil that might just gum it up. Try putting a squirt of graphite in teh others, that's what I do.Re: Illegal / dangerous to pull 11,000 trailer rated 10,000 lbs?It is illegal to go over you gross weight vehicle rating. It is unsafe for you to go over the GWVR. If you are in a collision and they figure that out your screwed. If a commercial vehicle enforcement officer figures out your over GWVR he will put you on his portable scales and find out how much and probably give you a big fat ticket for it. Probably not a high chance of that happening though. So its like swimming when there are no life guards, at your own risk. I'd say get a vehicle that will pull the trailer you got.Re: Opinion - Tow MirrorsYou can get by but having tow mirrors is best.Re: Keystone Bullet - Is it really lighter than everything else?We have a 2014 Bullett bunkhouse 32 feet from bumper to hitch. We use to tow it with a 2012 F-150 V-8 rated for 7700 I think. It towed it ok and I'm sure your EB will do fine. It is one of the lightest TT we could find with 4 bunks for all our kids. We upgraded to a F-350 6.7L diesel as we bought a TT to fit our truck. We love the trailer but we were always worried about weight, what we could take, had to leave storage tank empty. Your EB will do fine just a few more things to worry about.Re: Can I Tow This With My Truck? We just ran into this same issue last year. We bought a 1/2 ton truck which we loved and then a year or so later bought a TT. Of course we got a trailer that was a bunk house and tongue to bumper is 32 feet. Almost at the max load for the 1/2 ton. It did fine and would still pull it if we still had the 1/2 ton. Took a trip to the Oregon coast and it was windy the entire time, even before getting to the cost. White knuckle driving is not fun. I hate to break it to you but if its your dream to travel as you said you're going to have to move up to a bigger truck. We moved up to a F-350 and I think there is no sense in getting a 3/4 ton. You will have more piece of mind, bigger frame - brakes - capacity etc etc. Weight was always a worry but now I could pull my TT and the one your looking at :-).Re: Bullet premier 31bhr 2012.WE have a 2012 285 QBHS or something like that. It has four bunks in the back and the mega slide for the couch and dinette. Other than the usual maintenance it has held up very nicely. And that includes wear and tear from four kids. We take it out about a half dozen times each year with at least one trip across the state each year. We really like it. I thought there was a blue book on line for campers, four wheelers and that sort of thing. Pretty sure its a kelly blue book. Try that and look it up but the price seems good to me.Re: pretty neat dealWhat work even better is the back up camera in the tail gate with the zoom turned on its like the camera is directly above so you can see everything.
