Right at 11,000 hours.Re: 2020 Eco Diesel Tow and Off Road ReviewAn ok piece by tfl. I wish they were more gear head truck guys. 98 Glad you like the truck. fwiw it’s amazing how much better it gets with engine & trans tunes. More power & more power to the ground (less nanny) better economy plus turbo brake, cleaner oil, less codes. Maybe you already have them just sharing. You probably have 2 or 3 years of warranty left and it will be year from when the 2020s hit the steer before well at least before GDE has a tune fully tested & ready for it.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing reviewGood read on the 68RFE. The versions of the 8 speed that come in the 1500 5.7 & Ecodiesel and I’m assuming the 6.4 is rated to 520 TQ. FWIW I do have an engine & transmission tune in my ED. About 465 TQ as conversion to how Ram would rate it. Truck is used to tow TTs & boats daily and especially across the west. This transmission has been great up & downshifting, quick crisp shifts, no hunting, pulling grades plus it’s held up 592k now. No repairs 5 fluid changes 3 filter changes. Truck has towed to almost 16k CVW over 6 percent grades. I think it will prove a game changer for the 6.4 2500. That’s not to say that the 68RFE doesn’t work just fine in the flats and with moderate weight especially if it’s not pushed hard.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing review“Issues with violating the clean air act” Not saying there is a right or wrong here, or that you are but don’t blindly follow the gov and assume what they are doing is fully about our best interests. And that’s no matter what title a bill is given. Always good to be able to take a step back and re evaluate, research the bill from different perspectives etc. Who doesn’t want clean air? Shinerbock made some good points if you are from a morality standpoint strictly looking at the air we breathe. It makes a point that the title of the bill and the reality of the results are not strictly aligned. The harder thing about it is that the over arching thing, bigger progressive government theory vs experienced based conservative government awakens him to or challenges his world view. Some men seek to centralize power & control some to disperse it. Everyone else unwittingly or wittingly largely supports one group or the other.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing reviewYou are right about the debt. The debt IS increasing out of control and will eventually crush our economy if not brought under control and expansive entitlement programs are allowed to be expanded as many progressives be them dems or reps are working on. Well and presidential hopefuls are hawking for votes from the entitlement benefit seekers. But Tax cuts have grown our economy so much that net tax revenues are up. Same as happened with JFK & Reagan’s policies. This has been our actual economic experience as opposed to ideologically driven political agenda promotion & theater. I don’t know about the RV Industry as a whole (it seems up) but both the major RV manufactures we transport for Airstream & Forrest River are up in sales and both are currently building new plants. Though that may partly be due to excessively high taxes in progressive run gov states where snowbirds from WA, OR, CA, NY, NJ etc flee overtaxation and get a 6 month “residence” in conservative run low tax states like AZ & FL. Lol they voted for the free benefits and are now running from the taxation that came from it. As to boats Fineline that we transport for manufactures of Gladiator ski boats are again up year over year in sales. Fan of you & your posts but makes me question where you are getting your news and or how that news has been crouched or is being presented. As to the 6.4 2500 8 speed short of fuel cost I suspect you will really like it. It’s a solid motor, trans, and many say the optional rear air suspension makes for the best riding 3/4 ton in the market. Though I don’t know what elevation you are talking about towing in & how much that will affect power etc. I know naturally aspirated motors loose power to altitude where as turbo charged motors practically speaking don’t.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing reviewRam is way up the last quarter and YTD. It was posted on here for all the truck Mfgrs recently. The economy hasn’t been up this much and this strong since Ronald Reagan in the 80s when he cut Carters socialist oriented policies and people & business got out from under progressive government tax & business control policies. The economy might not be slowed until after we make the mistake of voting in another progressive global government oriented president. Although the last president assured us we would never see this kind of growth & prosperity again as he put his foot on economic growth & pushed our jobs abroad but I’m sure he thought a different administration would come in than did and continue with the global socialist agenda. I think even the left wants sales to roll for awhile they just want it to be battery powered.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing reviewThe GM 6 speed and especially the ZF 8 speed (among other things) has much better gear spacing. FWIW I have 580,000 miles on my (mid of 3 levels) ZF8 speed used daily to transport TT/THs & boats in the 4 to 9k range behind 465 TQ with zero repairs.Re: 6.4l 8 speed towing reviewI suspect Ram will eventually answer the Ford 7.3 / GM 6.6 with opening up the 6.4 to the full 7.0L. (426ci) And 500 foot pounds of torque seems attainable. Buick made up to 510 TQ from 7.4 (455ci) back in the day. You might also consider waiting until October when both the new 480 TQ Ecodiesel & 3.0 GM diesels should hit dealerships both supporting new dramatically improved emissions systems that should make current emissions ills largely a thing of the past much like early gasoline cat converters compared to today. Obviously enough power to tow your TT only with dramatically less fuel and a quieter smoother ride.Re: Ram 1500 Hemi or Ecodiesel?12k is pushing all the spec limits for a regular 1/2 ton platform or 9k for a TT no matter the Mfgr. And that’s with proper weight distribution and proper motor & gearing etc. I think the take rate should be something like 70 percent Hemi 20 percent Pentastar 10 percent Ecodiesel depending on how the truck is to be used. It’s weird how many people are defensive like a new motor is to replace their old favorite when that’s never been the objective. Pick the best motor to fit your needs & objectives variety & choice fits more needs and sells more Rams. Ram dropped the pointless 4.7 and added the diesel to keep 3. Chevy will have 4 with the small diesel Ford 5 with their small diesel.Re: Ram 1500 Hemi or Ecodiesel? You will get all kinds of answers on what it costs on both depending on how a guy does his maintenance such as pay a dealership to do it, do it yourself, others shops plus area of the county what kind of oil do you choose etc etc etc
