It is hard to build a cheap Sprinter based RV when the bare van starts out at $45k. Then you add all of the same appliances as a bigger RV including a furnace, water heater, 3 tanks, AC, stove, sinks, refrigerator, microwave, TV, etc etc etc.. Then they have to customize it to fit into a very small space like trying to fit a full size computer into a laptop or phone case. Then there are fewer used ones on the market compared to other RV’s so the resale value remains high based on supply and demand. Buyers frequently expect these to be cheap but the math doesn’t add up.Re: Service On Sprinter Chassis? My local Freightliner dealer will work on my Sprinter on Sat and Sunday with no appointments. They also have weekday hours till 10 PM for the truckers. The Transit and Promaster service facilities aren’t even in the same league.Re: Top Three Class B's, one (1) thru. three (3)!Without a doubt you have to include Sportsmobile especially if you are including custom companies like ARV. At least from SMB North, their build quality is far better than Roadtreks and Winnies and at least as good as Pleasureway. The price is very similiar depending on your selections (and 1/3rd the price of an ARV). Plus you get to custom design the van. You can choose to have a spare tire, a 2nd alternator, a diesel furnace, no loud LP generator or old fashioned LP refrigerator, etc.. The only downside is that you have to wait for your order. Mine took 10 months last year.Re: When will we get truly unlimited data from cell providersThis is like asking when will we get unlimited electricity or unlimited water or unlimited natural gas. Maybe we don't even want that if we found out what that would actually cost. Maybe we aren't even entitled to anything unlimited :).Re: New models with 4x4 with cabover bunk?I wouldn't call a Tiger RV a "poor mans" anything. You would probably pay $150,000 or more for one depending on the chassis you selected. I rented one from this place a couple years ago. It was money well spent for me and an interesting experience. http://adventuretravelsportrentals.com/tiger-bengal-rig/ It was overall a nice vehicle. It was built pretty well. The floorpan is excellent. I liked the living area, the galley and the nice bathroom. The pass through from the cab was nice but pretty tight. You have to be pretty limber to use it. Of course, the truck seats don't swivel so you can't use that area for living purposes like many other RV's. The cabover bed got old pretty fast. We started sleeping on the couch when we got sick of the ladder and the small headroom on the cab bed. I doubt many adults would be happy with the upper bed for very long although it would be good for young kids. The part that convinced me not to buy one was the ride quality on rougher roads was terrible which is the main reason to even have a 4x4 vehicle. These things are built on big, stiff, heavy duty pickups made to haul big loads. I don't think I have ever bounced around so much in a vehicle. I remember driving 20-30 mph on a bumpy road and getting passed by multiple smaller SUV's because I couldn't drive any faster without rattling my teeth and rattling everything in the cabinets. Maybe this could be improved with some suspension upgrades. For me, it wasn't worth having a 4x4. I am glad I rented one though.Re: Custom B or Custom Van?Sportsmobile could do a build like this. There is no reason you couldn’t do a small rear bathroom with a black and grey tank (maybe combined) except that it may require moving the spare tire to the rear door.Re: Anyone planning to buy an iPhone X?I ordered an Iphone X. I also own a Mac Book Air laptop that is 6-7 years old and works exactly like new. It cost twice as much as a cheap Windows laptop at the time but has lasted twice as long as any laptop I have ever owned in the past. I also own an iPad that is 6 years old and works exactly like new. I could sell both of them for a good price on Ebay and they would sell almost instantly. They are the cheapest computers I ever owned when you factor in the longevity and resale value. Every prior iPhone I have owned was the same. They worked perfect the entire time i owned them and maintained good resale value As soon as I get my new iPhone, I will sell my iPhone 6 that works perfect for a good price to help pay for my new phone. I could make similar arguments for other things that i have bought when I bought the highest quality option instead of the cheapest alternative. I recently sold my 10 year old Lexus RX after 150,000 miles with absolutely no repairs. It had great resale value. Sometimes buying cheap ends up being more expensive in the long run.Re: One of the added costs of owning our BNice garage. How tall is your door. Our Sprinter with AC just barely fits in my 10 ft garage door. Hopefully you built it for the taller B vans in case you change vehicles some day.Re: Toilet/Shower ComboStart with one of these. http://www.ameri-kart.com/RV-Products/Product-Catalog/Combo-Pans.aspxAny KVH A9 in motion dish experience? As a follow-up to the Winegard T4 in motion dome question below, does anyone have any experience with the flat KVH A9 in motion dish? Is this thing reliable. I have read about some issues with condensation causing reception problems but there isn't much other info on the internet. Thanks
