I am unfamiliar with this and I've been pulling fifth where's for ten years. Thank you.Re: Odor from hot water heaterThe sacrificial anode Rod May be gone. They are meant to be 'used up' over time. Replace it and also sanitize. I always add a few TBPS of Clorox every time I fill the fresh waster tanks. I get a kick out of my friend who always makes a joke when I say 'hot water heater'. He says it's just a 'water heater'. If the water is already hot, you wouldn't need a heater.... LOLRe: License class requirement in CaliforniaUmmm. Some clarification is in order from the post in Beginning RVing. That is some good reading... Thank you for posting. I pull a fiver with a motorcycle trailer behind. I don't read anything in the manual regarding that combo. Is it illegal in Cali? Seems it should be spelled out somewhere!Re: COUGAR 327 RES MAIDEN VOYAGEIf you decide to go via Asheville, have lunch or dinner at Binion's Roadhouse in Hendersonville, just south of Asheville. Great restaurant. Safe travels!Re: Cycle trailerI can speak from personal experience. I pull a 31' fiver with a 10' motorcycle trailer behind it. Of course it must be a frame mounted hitch... That goes without saying. Illinois is legal. Mostly east coast states have heartburn. West coast states may have issues. Call each state. I have the proper Michigan endorsement. We put 12,000 miles on this train last winter. I DID get a ticket in Florida, and paid a $110 bond. Ticket was not adjudicated, meaning they got my bond money, but no points were assessed. It is normally a three point violation , which I protested by mail. Be careful, plan your fuel stops, plan your turns, and make sure all your brakes are in good shape. Have fun and maybe we will see you on the road!ABS vs PVC DWV plumbingThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27687314ABS vs PVC DWV plumbingI have been RVing for going on 20 years. Also, I have been involved with residential contracting for quite some time as well. Many years ago, ABS replaced copper as the preferred material for plumbing the drain systems in residences. Then maybe 20 years or so ago, PVC replaced ABS as the preferred material for DWV systems, and is in use everywhere today, EXCEPT in RV's. The RV manufacturers seem to have stuck with ABS for some reason. Does anyone have knowledge as to the reason they continue to use ABS rather than PVC? Is it less susceptible the vibration rigors of the open road? Is it less prone to rupture from freezing? Is it less brittle when cold? There must be a bona fide reason they don't use PVC, which is much more readily available. I'm about to replace a ruptured section of ABS with PVC, unless there is a compelling reason not to. Thoughts?Re: Towing DoublesI had my court Date in Bay County (in absentia) a couple weeks ago. I posted bond of $110 and pled my case that under chapter 322.XXX (previous post) I was legal in Florida. They found me guilty, took the bond as a fine, but did not adjudicate, which simply means I was not charged points. I won't be back in Florida. I'll spend my cash elsewhere.Re: Towing DoublesThanks for all the new replies. We will be pulling the train out of Florida this weekend. I've called directly to both Georgia and Alabama State Police, and both assure me that I will have no legal issues pulling my rig in their respective states. Additionally, I have scoured both states' statutes and find no prohibitions. There are total length restrictions, but I am in compliance with those. I have my date in court for later in April, when I have a hearing by mail in Florida. I'm hoping the trooper is a no show, but I think my defense as previously stated works. Even to this point I have made numerous calls to various Florida office including the state attorneys office. They can't come up with a reason the law isn't applicable in my case.
