Lies, lies lies and more lies. Will never buy anything from that place and so incredibly happy I did my own research and bought my fifth wheel from a private party. Did you try any other dealers? What part did they lie about? We all know that you have your eyes wide open when going to dealers, but was wondering what in particular set you off at Tom Johnsons.Re: Wish List to design better RVs Pay more attention to sleeping areas. Usually they are way to small for adults. Bunk beds and dinette convertibles are only good for kids or very short people I agree! We have a 24 year old autistic son who is 5ft 10 who will be with us for some time and we cannot find very many DP bunk models with bunks larger than 72 inches! Only the new Newmar Ventana has 76 inch bunks... If you know of another, let me know!Re: Seat RecoverWe bought covers from Thor at cost as our seats wore out years ago. We try extra hard to protect them now as we know the material is very cheap. We had someone put the covers on. We also had to have our couch and euro chair recovered too, but we had someone recover it with better material...cost a pretty penny, but it looks better than it did and we know it will last.Re: thinking of replacing rugs in RVSo when you replace your carpet, all cabinetry and kitchen fixtures needs to come out?Re: Traveling with kids and no bunks?Sounds good. And I agree that traveling cross country adds more ammunition to the bunk argument. We did a 4 week trip to the Grand Canyon area and a 5 week to Yellowstone and it was great and are memories I will never forget. My daughter recently moved out on her own and I miss her and the family trips already. I know you will have great memories. Please post back what your decision was.Re: Traveling with kids and no bunks? We have had a bunk model since 2006 and the kids really liked them as it gave them their own space. The problem you mention - size - is an issue. The Hurricane we have had some of the longest bunks we saw (80 inches) which has allowed us to continue to use them as the kids got older. My son is now 23 but still fits (he is 5' 10' and slender build). He is still with us as he is autistic and will probably be with us for many years. Our thought is that we would like to full time in an upscale rig (Pheaton or -AlegroBus) but they do not have bunks... We have a few years to figure it out...but hate to give up the bunk. I guess what I am getting at is that bunks have served us well and it really helps that the kids have a place to put their junk...and no breaking down beds everyday. My 2 cents.Re: Storage and counter space in a class A with bunks? The Hurricane has served us well over the years as far as space... But I would be lying if I did not say we would want more counter space. But it is hard to find good counter space in any gas motorhome... We also tend to cook more outside for this reason. The other Bunk issue that the older Hurricane addressed was the size of the bunks. Ours is 30x80, which is the largest I am aware of. This was important to us as our kids are a bit tall, and my oldest is autistic and will be with us of some time...so having the bunks more of an "adult size" is helpful. When we finally move on to a DP (someday!), my son will have to sleep on a fold out bed, which will not be as convenient as our current bunks. Just food for thought.Re: Thor 13V-265 RecallHi Skrams, I did the bypass myself and although I did not have that problem (battery dying). I did proactively replace my chassis battery last year as I thought I was overdue at 7 years on an OEM battery. ;-) I figured it was easier have it done on my schedule than on a trip... So you probably should replace the battery and see what happens.Re: Chassis battery disconnect failed while drivingI have been following this awhile (I have already bypassed my BCC) and was wondering if this is a Thor problem only? Or are other manufacturers having this issue?Re: Extended Warranty- againWe purchased our RV in 2007 without an extended warranty and have not had any big need for one. The engine AC compressor and transmission both died, but were covered completely by the Ford warranty. I guess the only other repair that MIGHT have been covered is when some mice ate some engine wires...but that was only about $200. I guess like any type of "insurance" it is like gambling...sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. BTW - I tend to fall into the group of folks who do not buy extended warranties and have not had too many times when I have regretted my decision. Although I will look into it when we buy our next unit.
